Dry transfer on zimmerit

I order a decal set from Archer though Internet Hobbies for a Tiger I I’m building. The Tiger has zimmerit I build myself with Squadron Putty.

The decals are Archer ZimEdge which is a dry transfer. I have never used any dry transfers and I looked up the Archer site and it shows how to place them on a model by rubbing them in.

My question is will that Squadron Putty “home made” zimmerit stand up to the rubbing of the transfer?

I have some “Spongit Sticks” that have a small sponge on the tips. I wonder if that will work. I’m just worried about pressinbg down the zimmerit.

Thanks!!

Burnish lightly with a burnishing tool or a dull soft lead pencil if you don’t have one. Once you get the transfer to stick to the surface you can then use your finger to press and set the marking. The head from your hand will soften the transfer allowing it to contour to the surface. You might find you need to press the transfer in place with a dull toothpick, GENTLY pushing it against the surface until it has made complete contact.

Even when these markings were applied they didn’t cover every square centimeter, just like painting a brick surface there were pockets and specks that didn’t cover.

Once you have the transfers in place, I suggest you seal them with a over coat of the appropriate sheen of clear.
