dragon's fake tank?

what’s that tank in the background supposed to be? did they just make something up for scenery?[:D]

Looks a bit like a Russian T-26.

no, the thing on the right bringing up the rear behind the pz3

PzKpfw II Ausf. L “Luchs” (Lynx). ICM, Techmod and Mirage (which is a reboxed ICM) make decent models of the Luchs. Tasca makes two variants of it, late and 4th Pz Division variant. Superb kits, but are in the $45-50 range.

It was a line of light tanks towards the end of the war. The 50 mm turret used on the Puma armored car was supposed to equip a heavy variant of the Luchs.

haha! sorry bout that goatmonkey, i just think its really funny when this sorta thing happens. you thought it was fake, and then rob comes up and tells you its a real macoy. no ill will or anything here, just thought it was funny.

i still think it was fake. all the luch’s were just cardboard props. [:D] actually i kinda figured it was something like that once i posted. it just looked kinda fake with the two view slits at the front.

What i think is fake is that these germans are all looking so casual while standing next to a burning building ,especially that guy right under the eaves. Whats he doing anway, pulling up his pants ?

Not a fake, it made it into production and was one of Germany’s fastest tanks. Here is a site with a brief history of the tank: http://www.battletanks.com/luchs.htm

And with a t-26 next to them.

Gotta love Ron Volstad’s box art. All kit box art should look this good.

Looks like dragon might have a Luchs in the works. You ever notice how they did that with their box art? What was in the background would be released in the near future. BTW, the dude in the background is pointing the way.

Couldn’t agree more. I loved his Normandy Panther and his Tiger I Late art looks awesome too. Next to most of Tamiya’s box art, he’s my personal fave.

Thanks Rob for the link!! After seeing those photos ya just know I gotta have one!!! Or maybe therapy… na, I’ll get the kit!![D)]

This is doubtful. There are already four of them available from 3 different manufacturers. Two not bad (ICM, Techmod) and two outstanding ones (Tasca).

Still waiting for that Sherman with the mine roller that’s in the background of their T-26E3 Pershing kit. That would be a lot easier than cleaning up the resin discs in the Verlinden conversion kit.[:D] Chuck

Ackman: DML used to give teasers with their background vehicles but that plan has been set aside.

Also, the Pz III M/N is not a Volstad cover. Vincent Wai I believe.

Definitely looks like a Luchs. It’s one of the vehicles that IMHO has a very distinctive appearance, from the shape of the turret, to the roadwheels.

Hey, I’ll whistle at anything is a skirt!

I’ve always liked the late model PzIIIs, my fave being the J, the killer in the Desert campaign during Tobruk. It was a dreaded foe because of its (relatively) good armour and its wicked long 5cm.

its a russian t-26 light tank[

Welcome to FSM!

Happy posting tip: give the whole thread a read before you reply! (If it’s not too long, of course!)

He wasn’t asking about the T-26 in the background (identified in the first reply, by the way), but rather the Luchs behind the Pz III, as the original poster indeed responded in the second reply.

Good eye, though!
Now just apply that same sharp eye to the rest of a thread, and you’ll be cruising! [;)]
