Dragon ME 262 Mistel

I Recently built the Dragon Models ME 262(i believe it was released in 2003) and was not very happy with the fits of many pieces, namely the wing to fuselage fit. I was able to fill in the gaps and get everything to fit satisfactory, and i would still build it again in a heartbeat. This kit is very well detailed and can be a challenge at times(this was my first time working with more than a few photoetched parts) it was a ton of fun.

Although I’m not going to stray away from Dragon models as this kit was a fun challenge, i would like to know if anybody has any suggestions or reccomends any ME 262 kits from either Dragon or other manufacturers.

The Tamiya 262 is real nice, but the Revell kit at less than half the price is always a joy to build.

I have always liked revell models, their B-17’s are still my favorite to build, and their ME 109 that i built at the same time was an extremely nice kit, a bit simple but really nice.

The Dragon kit did turn out very nice, i was thrilled at the amount of weapon bay and cockpit detail as well as the photoetched pieces. the PE parts really add a ton of realism.

Does the revell me 262 have a ton of detail or is it elegantly simple like most other revell aircraft? revell seems to be able to pull off really nice models with low parts counts.

I believe the Revell kit is a re-box of the old Monogram kit. A good kit for it’s day & can still make a very nice model. That said, the Tamiya kit is currently the best available IMHO.

I’m currently building the Trumpeter ME-262 A1 kit, and it’s going together very well. You can skip a good part of the construction depending on what you want to reveal. General fit has been fine so far, but most parts need at least a swipe or two with the sanding stick, primarily due to flash.

I agree with Rick if you want one that just falls together go with the 1/48 scale Tamiya kit.

Yupper… It’s the old Monogram kit… And a fine kit indeed, with two of best 1/48th scale German figures they ever did…

Thanks everybody, i will have to look into the revell one. Trumpeter and tamiya arent real easy to find around here but i will keep my eyes open.

the italeri 262 is the dragon kit w/o the metal but with a nicer decal sheet and, at least in the uk, retails at about a third of the price; i got one for £4! revell/monogram one is worth doing if you find it cheap- i converted mine to the prototype with a third (rocket) engine and it didn’t need much filler. dragon’s fit isn’t great but it’s not bad either; don’t forget it’s a 20+ y/o kit and set new standards at the time. also, it comes in a lot more different flavours than tamiyas (very nice) kit…

Isn’t the Dragon 262 kit the Trimaster kit? I know it is true for the He 162.
