Dragon E-100 pix

Here’s my Dragon E-100, finished as a fictional operational vehicle circa 1946. Pulled a lot of bits from Tamiya’s Henschel Tiger II and Dragon’s Jagdtiger, and jazzed it up with some PE originally bound for those and other German vehicles. The figure is Tamiya, the mantlet is a nice resin aftermarket piece, the 75mm cannon is brass, and the 128mm cannon is from the Dragon Maus kit. (Can’t recall the names of the resin and brass manufacturers!)
I was originally thinking of doing a Bismark / Tirpitz scheme for the camo, but went with a softer-edged high-contrast 2-color camo of Nato Black over Light Gray. That should be fun for debates!

Thanks to RonUSMC for hosting pix for us. Hopefully I’ll get this to post:

Nope.

Hmmmm…

Anyway, I’d love to hear your opinions on my work.
And please: pull no punches!

Hey J-Hulk-

Very nice! “The Encyclopedia of German Tanks of WWII” by Peter Chamberlain shows one picture of a E-100, but only the lower hull and road wheels. It lists the main gun as an 15cm KwK L/38 with a 7.5cm KwK44 as a secondary gun. Imagine meeting up with this beast in a dark alley. Yikes! Good job on your model!!

Thanks, 53ryder!
I’ve seen quite a lot of conflicting data concerning the proposed main armament, from the 12.8 cm up to the 17.4 cm gun.
Can you imagine?? A 17.4 cm gun!!!

It’s all fictional, and I’m lazy, so I just chose the 12.8 cm from the Maus.
I reckon the gun that comes with the E-100 kit is supposed to be the 15 cm, though. I didn’t like the looks of that big funky muzzle brake!

J-Hulk,

Now THAT’S a piece of armor [:p]

Excellent job!

I’ve always been a big fan of Germany’s E series, and this is one of the better E-100s that I’ve come across. I do however, like the looks of the 15cm gun better.

Nice work J-Hulk…I love it!! Awesome build…awesome painting and weathering. Very imaginative!! I think the placement of the figure in front of that Beast is pure genious…it gives the viewer an understanding of how large that thing is. I am also going to undertake a kitbashed project in teh near future (once I get my Panzer III and Konigstiger done[;)])…

Again great job J-Hulk!!!

Talk about HUGE! And beautiful!

Great, great work, J-Hulk. My armor models will wilt in fear parked beside that behemoth.

There you go J-Hulk , People have had to do the same for me.Very nice work.

Thanks for the all kind words, fellas!

Yeah, Moses, I really wanted to put something in a very simple setting that would showcase the overwhelming size of this thing. I thought about a guy on a bike, or on a motorcycle, but then decided on just putting the guy there, leaning on the beast, because as humans nothing gives us a better reference for size than seeing just a human in a scene.

But ya gotta admit, can you imagine a more impractical vehicle?
Oh yeah, the Maus. Forgot!

Thanks, lizardqing! How’d ya do it? I swear I followed the instructions on posting to the letter…anyway, thanks!

its a great cammo Berlin Ambush
with the bloke leaning against the hull makes me think of a diorama of oyur E 100 and bloke leaning against it and at the other end od the street a group of shermans or IS 2s trying to turn around and run away
and the caption would be “Im Waiting”[8D]

BIG…very big…lol
I love it very nice job man!! I have never seen a E-100 before…now i want one…hahaha keep up the amazing work!

Super Work Brian !!!

It’s great to see some of you stuff finally … very impressive, both the E-100 and your modelling skills.

P.S. When you went to post your pics you clipped the url short, right click on the largest picture select properties, and make sure that you get the “whole” url.

Hey, J, I think it’s great. And I haven’t seen too much in the way of debating, so far. You did a cool job. And way to adapt those “spare” parts. I also, like the guy in the casual pose against the tank. It maks the tank just reek of hugeness!!

Here’s a thought, pose one of the German “baby” tanks (like a Pz I or II near it). Those things were so small they’d about fit on the glacis!! lol

Can you imagine the insanity of designing something like that?? How would they move it. They had enough trouble moving the Tiger I’s and II’s around. There’s no way the bridges would have held them up! They would have had to build it where they wanted to use it and leave it there. Kind of like a glorified pill box. Oh how fortunate we are the Nazi’s had people like that working for them!

Again, great job. I love the camo scheme, too. Might get brave and try something like that out myself, someday.

Model happy, it’s only a hobby;
Bill

Nice work on the E-100. Just goes to show you, what were the Germans thinking? You could probably get at least a couple of Panthers out of that thing. Could it cross any bridge without collapsing it? Anyone have any vital statistics on its armor and speed?

Looks killer!
Very Nice!

Thanks, all!

Caveman: Berlin Ambush. I like that! That’s kinda what I was thinking; some kind of 2-tone urban camo. And I love gray!

Shermanfreak: Yes, finally I have some decent pix to post! I’ll some more pix up some, including that EZ8 I7m always talking about.
AND I finally found that the all-important “jpg” was left off the end of the address. I was so sure I copied the addresses in their entirety, too! I’m slowly but surely learning all this nutty computer business.

wipw: Good idea about the li’l baby Panzer I or II! I actually jokingly considered attaching a Panzer II on a rack on the back of the E’s turret, as a little scout vehicle. Wouldn’t that be outrageous?

One thing I wish I’d have done is install a crane somewhere on the turret to fascilitate removal of those massive skirts.
During the build I rationalized that such a beast would never wander too far from it’s support vehicles, and thus such a crane would be unnecessary. But it would look cool!

the e-100 is an awesome looking tank. you did an awesome job on it j-hulk. instead of the pz 1 put about a dozen vw amphib. cars on it [;)]

Awesome tank and great job on it J-Hulk!! I like the camo and the weathering is superb. The figure really does a great job of showing off the size of that beast.

Eric

Hmmm did i start a trend??? Altho your camo looks a LOT better than mine.

Keep it up
