So many happens so i nearly forgot about your work.

Those 2 little babies looks ossom.

When i’ll find some spare time i write to you about them in private message.

Revenant - I don’t know how I missed your message, sorry about that! I thought about some cool markings on the helmets, but I didn’t have a good idea what and how to do this. It’s still not to late, though!

Headhunter88 - thanks a lot for your comment and your kind words! Looking forward to your message - have a nice day

Hello!

I just can’t believe, how long I didn’t post any update here - this has to change.

I have installed the armor in both of the fuselages. The PE parts from the Airwaves kit turned out to be useless, so I have made my own out of some ice cream packaging (thin styrene sheet):

I have done a lot more work on the other “Egg”. I’m almost ready to install the pilot there - he’s fitted to his seat, the hand on the collective still removable. I have installed the cables for the seat belts locks and the linkage for the cyclic stick (pointed to by the arrow). Now the tricky part will be to install the pilot first and the stick later:

Next, after the pilot, I’ll tackle the rudder pedals. Thanks for looking and I hope you like it - have a nice day

Hello!

I’ve got the first cockpit almost fitted out. Just the tail rotot pedals left to do, and I could try to put the glass on. So far I have rigged the second seat with belts. I have installed the first aid kit, the second stick, a map pocket with WP grenades and an M16 rifle - here’s what the cockpit looks like now:

Hello everybody!

After a long time pause I got some new energy and I got to outfitting the bubble. I have made the canopy frames out of clear decal sheet painted with Humbrol 140 grey. Then I have scratchbuilt the manual holder out of 0,3mm styrene sheet. Most work was put into the defog ducts. They are based on the PE parts from the Airwaves set, although they needed a lot of rework. I made the ducts out of 0,5mm soldering wire and the levers out of thin copper wire with white glue knobs, my old trick. Most parts were glued with white glue, too, to avoid “accidents”. Here’s what it look like:

Hello everybody!

After returning from a business trip I have finished fitting out the cockpits. In the “grey one” I have installed the second cyclic stick, a first aid kit, rifle and WP grenades. In both cockpits I have installed the tail rotor pedals. In places where the arches didn’t want to fit I have cut them out and I’ll add them after installing the bubble - and that will be my next step. Here’s what the cockpits look like right now:

Hello everybody!

I have tinted the windows, using Tamiya X-19 Smoke (acrylic):

On the Loaches (OH-6) the tint was dark instead of green - at least in most instances.

On the grey machine I have mixed some Gunze Black to the mix - which makes Smoke substantially darker, but also a little less transparent. On the green machine I have applied like 8 thin layers of Smoke about half an hour apart - this surface is a little lighter but also clearer.

The rear windows were generally left untinted, but in some cases (like the green machine) they were paneled over with sheet metal.

Hello everybody!

I have put a first layer of paint on those babies - in this case Humbrol 155 olive green:

Now I’ll start putting the decals on and I want to clear-coat it all in order to remove the window masking.

Hello everybody!

I’m almost done with the decals and the gloss is also on. Now I have to put a satin coat on top of them babies:

Looking good. Hurry up I want to see them finished. [:D]

Hello!

Thanks a lot for your comment, and for your kind words!

Hurry and model building just don’t fit together - but don’t worry, I think I’ve got most of the work done!

Have a nice day

I was just joking around. I do look forward to seeing the finished Helo’s.

They look great. Big loach fan. I did the old tamiya kit years ago and put it in the verlinden revetment. I also did a couple md500s. But those were 1/48 and i thought those were small!

I have a police md500 and the 1/35 oh6 ib the stash. This is inspiring me to build one.

Look forward your next posts!

Griffin - Okay, thanks a lot!

keavdog - it’s enough to take a closer look at the little helo, and it gets tough not to be a fan of it!

How were those Tamiya and Academy models? Are they related? It’s important to look at the details, the Vietnam OH-6As (Hughes 369) differ in many ways from helicopter built a few years later (Hughes 500), and they evolved for many years.

But they can be converted if necessary and the glass bubble and lack of doors in the Vietnam version just invites to detail the cockpit at least a little!

I just removed the masking from the window of one of my “eggs”, hope to post an update soon! Thanks a lot for your comment and have a nice day
