used my own mixeture of paint for the overall kit. iused tamiya clear red and clear blue to get the purple look for the lenses, then spayed a couple panels with a liter shad of the base to give it the look of repllaced panels. also used a sponge with blak to simulate the warn anti skid that i used mr surfacer 500 to simulate, then weatherd it with an oil wash and pastels. this was a hard dcolor to weather for me so go easy.[:D]
Nicely detailed. With the skirts that low, wouldn’t a crew experience problems with rough or uneven terrain? That’s not a critique of your build BTW,just a question concerning a real Chally.
I read somewher… that the colors varyed so i gave it a shot it does havea real yellow to it i used raydome tan and chrome yellow i think i used to much yellow oops.
I don’t know much about modern armor myself but have to agree with doog, the color does seem a bit heavy on the yellow. When mixing your own colors it’s always a good idea to remember that the “primary” colors are very strong and a little bit goes a long way. Aside from that, the weathering looks good to me along with the rest of the details. [tup]
I know less about modern armor than the stuff I actually build[:-^] so can’t comment on the color. But build-wise, well I like it and hope to see you in the armor section a lot more often.
A very well-constructed model. However, from seeing the real things fairly frequently (I live quite near to Bovington) I can tell you that the colour that the British Army paint their vehicles for desert operations has much more of a grey or pink tint than yellow. If you do a Google Image search on Challenger 2 MBT or Challenger 2 Telic, you’ll find lots of pictures.
That looks really nice (to my untrained eyes). I agree that the color is a bit too yellowish but that does not take away the fact that you have done a very good job on the kit.
I like the challenger the most out of all the Modern tanks, just looks like it rolled out of a sci-fi book, and started blowin’ stuff up [(-D]. It is a little yellow, but with some dust, it might even out the color.
Fantastic Build! you’ve done this future tank justice!
