I just wanted to post what I received today from my Dad for Christmas- the complete set of series one “Dogfights” on DVD! I no longer have cable TV, and one of the things I missed most was this series. I saw the first few episodes, but that was it. My Dad saw one and called me up to see if I had ever heard of it, and I told him how much I enjoyed the show but was no longer able to see it. He started taping the episodes for me, but wasn’t happy with the quality of the tapes. He found this somewhere online, and ordered it for me as a Christmas present. WOOHOO!!! I am so excited to see the episodes I missed. Sorry to ramble, but I was so excited about it I wanted to share.
COOL!!! [8D]
Cool, Frank! I’ll bring popcorn! I’m on my way…[;)]
THat’s definately on my list to Santa
The History Channel sells the series on their web site. I bought it a few months ago when they had it on sale. I’m too cheap to pay for cable or satellite! I’m still studying them, it’s sort of like Top Gun for home schoolers!
What kind of toppings do y’all like on your pizza, cuz that’s what I’m bringing (I’ll pick it up when I get to the states…I seriously doubt they’d let me take it through customs without sharing some of it!). [swg]
I’ll bring the beer!
They should have the second season coming out very soon. They’ve been running them at an odd time on the History Channel this season. Thank God for TeVO.
Frank,
I’ll bring the rum[#toast]

Allright fellas! We have pizza, beer, popcorn and rum. It’s all loaded up in the DVD player, but nobody is here yet! [%-)]
Hmmm… somebody had better bring some coffee for the morning hangover after the party. [sigh][swg]
They are great - have the set from History channel - watched an episode during lunch today! Just as a note, the recent rumor is that History Channel isn’t planning on a third season. Actually was posted that the the second season (small so far) was just completion of already planned/started episodes. Not great news, but at this stage it only appears to be rumors. I love this serious so it will be a shame to see it go - if it does.
Rumors abounded months before they started this season that there would not be a new season. Obviously there is. What I did was went to the history channel website (history.com) and wrote in saying I hoped they would continue making the series. I think if they get many letters, emails, calls, etc they may help persuade them to keep it going. Also, send in your suggestions as to what you would like to see. That’s one of the responses I got too.
$30 is cheap for the season one DVD set IMO.
I’m bringing hot wings and tequilla!!!. And since I’ll be coming from Joisey… I may as well pick up anyone that’s between here and there[:D]
Just an FYI…it’s on all day on the History Channel according to the website.
But I think that someone higher up there is setting the series up for failure…I watched it like clockwork when it was on Friday nite. then recently it would be on at 2200 & 0200 hrs…sorry, I’m an old man and do not stay up that late. and now it’s a marathon day today, and alas, here I am at work. Although I have cable, I’m to cheap to get tivo, or any other type of T.V. show recording device. (I have a VCR, but no blank tapes.)
So Hey, if anyone reading this is at home, see if it’s on.
Regards, Dave.
It’s on right now.
Barnes & Noble books stores that have a DVD and movie section carry them as well. I am in one of the stores everyday and have seen season one for $40.
Last Monday, I believe it was, or it could have been last friday, anyway, History channel ran about 4 hours straight of dogfights. I even got to see the one I missed on Chuck Debellevue! I met Chuck at a local airshow here last Aug or Sept. Great guy. I am modeling my 1/32 scale F4-E after his mount.

It’s on the history channel today from 2-6 PM eastern time.
Watching Laffy take out some Judy’s and Vals with 20mm AA.
It is a great series, and I enjoy watching it and playing “rivet Nazi”, to see whether I can spot technical or detail errors in the animations. There are a few, not many at all, but it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come since that horrible, horrible “Midway” movie.
Me too. I’m a Corsair fan and loved watching them ‘clean-up’.
I remember a story where a Corsair was chasing away the kamikazes flew so close that he actually hit a part of the ship he was helping defend. The pilot had to bail out. Anyone else know the whole story on this?
Just finishing up with the German 109 ramming atacks.
Now they are doing one over my old stompin grounds. Desert Storm.
