Does this happen to anyone else?

Well I am a plane builder mostly, so my aircraft stash exceeds epic proportions. However, discovering braille scale armour has revealed a shortcoming in my armour stash. I have nearly 70 1:72/1:76 armour kits now.

I think I fixed that shortcoming [:-^]

Lori (my lovely wife), encourages me btw…

cheers

Mike

I had the same problem. In the early days of eBay (when looking at all models up for auction took about an hour), I bought many of the old kits I built as a kid. Prices were cheap and shipping using the new USPS priority mail was only $3 for whatever you could stuff in their free boxes.

Throughout the years, I used eBay and the clearance shelf at the LHS to buy top quality kits at rock bottom prices. Recently, I decided to get rid of some of the more collectible vintage kits I acquired during the last 10+ years. I made some good money and was selling some kits at well over $100 (for models I paid maybe $5-20 for).

I still look at eBay every now and then, searching for the “can’t pass by” bargin, but i doubt I’ve spent more than $30 in the last 6 months.

I stay around 1/35 armor as 1/72 is a little small for my eyes and hands…(Wait a minute, now that could be a whole new area to collect…that’s the ticket [:-^])…Then there is a voice!!!

Focus damm it!!! [oX)]

You are blessed with a keen eye and good focus. But at least you were at one time a bargin junkie like some of us. I am slowing down myself as I have almost all of what I truly want on my shelf. But like snacks sometimes the great buys outside of our normal stuff “tastes good”.

You are driven by what you do to focus. Sometimes some of us just need to go on a “diet” every now and then!! But I do enjoy “eating”. Time for some PT [swg]

We all do that but do we really regret buying kits. I mean dont we all intend to build everything we buy?

I get all hot and heavy over a new subject based on whatever I’m reading or seeing someone else with a great build, really gets me interested and I just HAVE to have one.

And now I am obsessed with almost every new release from Dragon… [:O] Great bang for the buck! [:D]

…although I would like to think that I will eventually build everything I buy, I also believe that collecting IS part of the hobby…

Haha, at least I’m not the only guy who’s wife is a shoeaholic.

Another problem of mine is aircraft. I like them personally and have a small stash. Will I build them is the question. I sold a bunch before because they sat there. Suddenly I read a book or two and get the fire again. I added 5 more to the stash. I started one 2 years ago and it hasn’t been touched much since. Will I ever get the picture?

I have a hard time passing up “deals”, and it shows in the composition of my stash. At least I’ve got something to fir whatever mood I’m in, like modern or early…

Will I build it all? No way. I need to find a true “swap meet”.

Tigerman, I’m guilty as charged of buying stuff just because it’s on sale. In fact, I know a lot of my stash is made up of stuff just because it WAS on sale…not necessarily because I was looking for it.

Redleg, the funny part is that my wife isn’t into shoes…which means that I’M the bad one! Aaaaack! [}:)] What have I turned into?

Eric - Mine too. I initially used her shoe-mania as justification for my model buying disorder. But I’ve sadly outpassed her high water mark months ago.

I started buying armor model kits last July. Since then I’ve built about 12 and still have 60 or so in the stash. Yea, I get the shaky hands and the rapid heartbeat when perusing merchandise at the LHS. It’s bad enough buying a ton of kits, but how about all the tools, supplies and miscellaneous paraphenalia?

You are not alone friend.

Larry

What do you guys think that all “the wives” would think if they knew we were on here 'fessin up" to our shopping addictions?![(-D][(-D]
