Does anyone make an AC 130 kit?

Well I guess there’s nothing left to add.

Minicraft makes two in 1/1144 (an H and an A model) :

Beyond that, I don’t know. I am sure there are aftermarket conversion kits for the regular C-130 in larger scales (such as 1/72 and 1/48) though. I seem to recall seeing some around.

Yes there are also kits of the Spectre in 1/72 and 1/48.

The 1/48th version is made by Italeri and the 72nd scale by Tester I believe…

I know there is an AC-130U kit from Italeri in 1/48 but it is expensive and hard to find.

The 1/72 kit from Testors is easier to find, but still expensive. I wanna say the Testors kit is an AC-130A

ESCI made one in 1/72 and ERTL boxed it as well.

I believe the Testors and Itlaeri kits are the same. Testors was importing Italeri at the time. There is both 72nd and 48th AC-130A and AC-130H and also AMT did a AC-130U in 72nd.

yep, ive got a 1/48th Italeri AC-130U, it cost $88.50 a couple of years ago at my LHS. It must be the season for building one as I just pulled out of the stash last night and am gettin ready to build it. LOL

I can’t remember which company makes the kit but theres a nice C130 Gunship kit @ the Aviation Museum that i get my paints from thats like 40 or 50 dollars, i have to go there today and grab some paints i’ll find out and let you know.

Probably already been mentioned, but if I recall correctly, Airfix/Italeri (both actually the same kit, and once reboxed by Testors) and one by AMT in 1/72 and Italeri (and Testors rebox) in 1/48th

Thanks for all the help guys. When I go to search the model companies I forget the names of most of them.

The Airfix AC-130H is their own tool, based on theri original C-130K/ Hercules C.1. However, it hasn’t been produced for a good 20 years. The Hercules most recently available in an Airfix box is a re-pop of the Italeri 1/72 C-130H.

Cheers,

Chris.

Ok i went to the giftshop at the Aviation museum and they have 3 C-130 kits. The first is an Italiari 1/72 for $60, the 2nd is a MiniCraft 1/144 for $36, and the 3rd is Italiari 1/48 for $106. The website is WWW.MuseumofAviation.ORG and phone number is 478-926-7309, you’ll probably have to call b/c the guy at the shop was telling me that kit selection online is scarce but if you call and tell them which kit that you’ll have no problem ordering them. I hope that helps, good luck and good hunting.

I have a 1/72 Ac-130 I can part with , pm me if interested

I have the Italari 1/48 AC-130U. It is the prototype version, it would take a bit to get it up to the current in service standards.

Did I mention it is a HUGE kit?

Like new engine nacelless, for starters. Can you say ‘only game in town’?

Cheers,

Chris.

I’ve got the Minicraft AC-130H in 1/144. It looks like a fairly simple kit, won’t take up too much room (about the same size as a medium bomber in 1/72) if space is a consideration. That being said, it would take a lot of work to bring it up to the H version as it’s a whole lot closer to the A prototype (maybe the U, haven’t checked that closely). There’s no cockpit to speak of only a couple of seats so the IP and consoles would have to be scratched. The only nod to the H model is the sensor pod on the nose of the plane, all the other ECM and sensor arrays would have to be scratch built. A cargo bay is provide, but it’s empty. If you wanted an interior, it would have to be scratched. The guns are pretty much blobs. I plan on building mine for the weekend build GB next month. Will get around the cockpit and interior probs by simply painting the insides of the windows black and leaving the tail ramp up. The guns, maybe some brass tubing for the 105 and 40. Haven’t decided if I’m going to leave the miniguns or switch to the Bushmaster 25s.
