Do the Hobbyboss A-10 kits have ordinance?

Hi guys!

I was contemplating getting one of the Hobbyboss A-10 kits. Does anyone know if they come with ordinance? To me, the A-10 is pretty but it’s just not an A-10 unless it’s got a full weapons load. Sort of like the way the old bent-wing Corsairs just aren’t Corsairs unless they’ve got their flaps dropped. (Can I get an Amen?)

I guess specifically I was drooling over their two-seater A-10 but if anyone has any info on any of their A-10s, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Eric

I recently constructed the single-seater and it was a beauty…yes, there is plenty of ordnance. I was surprised at the quality and ease of construction. Enjoy

Here’s a llink to a revew on Modelling Madness, which tells you which stores you get with a Hobbyboss 1/48 A-10:

As you can see, there’s no shortage.

Cheers,

Chris.

Thanks guys! Due to my space limitations at home, I think I’ll be opting for the 1/72 scale versions. I hope those are as fully loaded as their 1/48 scale bretheren.

Eric

The Hobbyboss 1/72 A-10s are pretty basic, and nowhere near as well-equipped or detailed as their 1/48 bretheren. If I were making a 1/72 Warthog, I’d go for the Italeri kit, which is accurate, well-detailed, has a full weapons load and not very expensive.

Cheers,

Chris.

The Hobby Boss two-seater 1/72 A-10 has absolutely no ordinance at all. A major disappointment. Haven’t built the kit yet, but it looks like it will be a nice, simple build. I’m not sure I agree with their color guide. I know the aircraft is now painted gunship gray (which is the color they recommend) on display at Edwards, but I don’t believe that was the color while the aircraft was flying.

I’ve got the Hobby Boss A-10 N/AW in line to build and it has a lot of ordinance, two sprues. I don’t know the accuracy of the kit, but not a concern with me, but it looks real nice and I think will build great. it looks like I don’t have to put the gun in it either which is awesome, like having a bonus kit. Big enough to throw in some scratch detailing as well.

Thanks again for all the great info. I’m primarily a WW2 aircraft builder but I sure like the A-10…probably because it looks like the straight-winged WW2 birds that I love.

I didn’t realize Italeri came out with an A-10 so I’m definitely going to have to look into that!

Don’t ask me why but for some reason, I really like it when they make a one-seater into a two seater. The F-18s are nice but I really like the two seater version. Same with the A-4, the A-10, the A-7, etc.

Same here, I sold all the single-seat jets I had and bought or traded for two-seaters, love 'em. You have to have someone to chit-chat with when you’re bombing the hell out of the enemy. [;)]

Exactly! I mean, if you can’t share it with someone then where’s the fun?

I think they come with proper decals too. I have not inspected my A-10 box yet.

I have to tell ya, you may want to push a few kits aside to make room…the 1/48 is a real gem.

Oh I wish, Hutch! My wife, who supports my hobby 100%, lets me display my models in our huge custom-built entertainment center amongst all her nick-nakcs. However, all that space is taken up as are some of the shelves and dresser tops in my kids’ rooms. I had to move my 1/48 scale B-26 from the unfinished top of the entertainment center so my wife could put up our nativity set and Christmas garland. I wandered all through the house looking for a place to put my B-26! I ended up moving some stuff over on my 2 year old’s dresser just so I could have a place to put the B-26.

Even though I haven’t done this since I was a kid, I might have to start hanging some of my planes up in the basement!

I’m almost 30 and the woman lets me do this… She knows building airplanes is better than hanging out in bars. That is a 1/48 B-1B… You don’t wanna know how big it is.

Paintsniffer,

It is with a heavy heart that I say I know exactly how big that beast is. My brother-in-law who used to be in the Air Force, had me build one for him. It was probably a year or a year and a half ago. I thought he was crazy but he insisted I build it with the gear down. I can’t imagine where anyone would have the room to put it! He ended up putting it on his pool table. At least he decided to have me build the 1/48 SR-71 with the gear up so he could hang that one. I build him models, he gives me airplane books. It’s a fair trade for me. [:I]
