do m113a1 use in gulf war?

just want to find out do m113a1 use in gulf war ?

Nope. By Operation Desert Storm (A.k.a. Gulf War '90-'91), all M113s had been converted to M113A2s. In OIF (Iraq, '03-current) M113A2 and M113A3s are being used.

i can convert m113a1 into a2 by adding smoke generade discharger in front of vehicle ? what the different of a1 and a2 exterior ?

The main differences to the M113A1 and M113A2 are internal (fuel tank and engine) but the arrangement of the engine grill and exhaust are different as well. Not all M113A2s carried smoke grenade launchers so this is not a true identifier.

I’ve been in the US Army’s mechanized forces for over 22 years. Even during my stint in the National Guard from 1983 to 1987, all we had were M113A2s, no M113A1s. The M113A3 was being integrated into our forces as early as 1987-88 (perhaps even earlier). Both the M113A2 and M113A3 served together throughout the 90s and were considered interchangeable for operational purposes.
