This is the DML 1/200 Tu-95 Bear D. This is the 2nd time I’ve attempted one of these 1/200 Bears, and while this one is better than the first, I’m still not entirely happy with the result. Metallic finishes are a real challenge for me. Even with weight in the nose, the model still sat on its tail, so I improvised the runway base as a way of gluing it down.
I think your model looks GREAT, and your display base really adds to it as well. Nicely done. That is an impressive looking airplane. knox
That’s pretty awesome, how did you do the runway part of the base? It’s really adds something!
Groot
I just printed it out, glued it down with ModPodge, weathered it with pastels, then sprayed it with Dullcote to flatten the finish.
Came out real nice. The base really adds to it .
Great looking model!
Looks great to me!Nice Job!
I always thought that was the Soviets best looking plane. Truly a great job on that build. Can you imaging doing that in 1/48?
Agreed, on the look of the plane and on the size! I’m building another one right now in 1/100 scale - old (1980s) German kit, not as well detailed as the DML - but twice as big!
That looks awesome! The finish turned out fine. Remember, unless they were flying these close to where a NATO or USAF squad was scrambled to ‘escort’ it, and, of course, photograph it (man, I miss my Dad’s Aviation Week and Space Technology magazines!), they weren’t that well cared for.
Nice little dio.
