Guys and gals, I wanted to share this with you all. I don’t know if I’m posting on the right section. As many of you know, Michaels has been running a 40% discount on all display cases. Well, if you visit this link, you will get a coupon for an extra 25% off. I’ve got to use the coupon in the store and yes, it does works! I’ve got a $29.99 wooden and glass display case with mirror back for around $13-$14 after tax. My 1/35 ABRAMS A1M2 did fitted in like a glove. We spend the money, we spend the time so this would be great to protect our models. They are available in black and cherry red. Looks nice on a desk, perfect for a commissioned job or a very presentable gift.
You don’t need to bring the 40% coupon, the display cases already have that discount. Just bring the 25% coupon.
HA! Same here… I bought a small diomara case as Hobby Lobby was offering 50% off on all cases last week. I am so glad Hobby Lobby is only five miles away…
its already hard enough to spend money at michaels… Last time I went they had little 5x7 wooden plaque bases for 1$ each, bunch a bunch of furture dioramas.
I was looking for a picture on their site but apparently they don’t have it, so here its mine. You can turn the turret in it about 30 degrees. Now, if I could only find a cheap case like this for my upcoming project, Trumpeter’s 1/350 USS NIMITZ [;)]
Enjoy it my friend. The case has 3 clear plastic discs in it that you should remove to fit your model in. I peeled mines off with a kitchen knife. The tank in my picture is standing on top of a piece of black foam board. I’m planning on adding ‘‘sand’’ to it. That way I won’t mess with the case bottom floor.
He got that right… Hobby Land and Michaels sell many display cases in different sizes from baseball to football to basketball. They have a great selection for models too just like one below. I bought few for no more than $5 each and it really helps keep my models free of dust. It is just a temporary until I get a bigger dispay cases!
I actually could find none when I went today… Did spend 25$ though. Got pastells, some oil paint, plaques for bases, and a crap load of balsa strips for building buildings for dios.
Check Michael’s circular in your local paper, or check their site, but they have a constant 40% discount on most items, every week, including the display cases.
I use the football display cases (that’s a pigskin for you foreigners, not a soccer ball) for figures. They’re built pretty nicely, if a little flimsy, with wooden frames and a mirror in the back wall of the lid.
The basketball display cases looked like they could take a tiered inset, too.
You need to check Michael’s on a regular basis; they often change makes/manufacturers that they carry, but it’s always worth looking, to see what they have on hand.
I end up not even using the coupons in the news paper. When you buy something there they give you a 40-50% off coupon on your receipt. Heck, I go there with my mom, I buy one item, she buys my other, I give her the money we both use a coupon, double 40% off
