I found out that this is will be listed in the Disney catalog for 2004. It is 24 inches long. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it a model, figurine? What is it made of?

From what I understood from a previous post by Migmaker(William Babbington) at starship Modeler, it is a commemoritive display “figure” about 22" long.
It is supposed to be sold as part of a Anniversary package that I believe includes a DVD, and other memoribilia.
As some of you may know POLAR LIGHTS now has a licencse agreement with Disney…
AND!
There are still annoucements to be made from them this Jan or Feb…SOOOOOOO…The Nautilus is one of the kits that they have wanted to run since the beginning.
We can only pray![^]
I just hope that who ever does finally run this AWESOME ship in styrene …that they at least make it 22 inches or more!
Thanks for the info Umi
And Amen for a large Nautilus !!! I’d love for that model to have 2 partial interiors that we can view thru the pilot house and the living quarters. It’d be neat to be able to light those areas up internally and view the interiors. I think at 22 inches, PL, or someone, can provide the partial interiors.
For those of you that do not frequent the other BBs.
Here’s some more tasty tidbits.

From Starshipmodeler.com
That would look great on my fireplace mantel! Now all I have to do is talk my wife into finding someplace else for her flower arraingment and nic-naks.
[b]WOW!!!
Thank you UMI! That will be worth waiting for![:D]
Or in other words, “expensive”!
James (who hopes PL does a styrene one that he can afford) [:)]
Thats what I’m thinking…100.00 or more? GULP
I predict, way more than $100.00.
James [:)]
I would guess $395 or more if it is a commerorative Disney piece.
hi guys,
some hobby mag quite a few years ago had an article about the dizzy version of the nautilus that included the original plans, which i heard were LOST by dizzy. i have a model of the naut about 60-70 persent complete that im doing from the plans. its about 14 " long. im doing the rivets with drops of white glue. I’ll try to get a few pics up on my fototime site for yall. think polar lites will use it as a master?? Check here in 24 hours or so…maybe sooner. Be seeing you, doc

A version of those plans is available here.

Although, there will be some dispute on the “Alligator Eyes” on the top of the conning tower, and the rivet pattern.
I would be just peachy happy to have gotten as far as you have on the project Doctorsan.
That is looking really good.
Hey there cool another Disney nautilus being born into the world, the fun part begins when you start riveting it,what a blast, even more so as you are doing a little one,14"long. Hmm, what made you pick that size?..btw the model mag you speak of was the one where Tom Scherman(most famous Nautilus maker) posted the drawings first time for public eye 1974…models started popping up at that point…i built several Nautilus replicas using the plans my self, till i did more research on the ship and found all kinds of changes were made to the original filming model that were never changed on the drawings.(these were for documentation purposes only and “a starting place at best” quoted from my best friend and Nautilus historian,Richard Allsmiller. No soul alive today knows more about this submarine than he,including myself…and I’m a guru lol and extremely passionate about the Disney Nautilus and the accuracies of the ship. Your Nautilus looks good…keep it up
by the way for anyone that wants to make a model of the sub use this measurement for overall length 178 ft or 2136 inches long and you can scale quickly…the one for the 50th anniversary is exactly 22 1/4" long which is 1/96th scale…also for a finished, put it on the shelf figurine with lights ,it will be more reasonable than you guys think, but it is being done by Disney,so I cant say price
