Woke up yesterday and found my stash closet and half of my hobby room flooded. Water heater busted. Havent had time to survey damage to the kits yet.
That sucks, and I can identify with you. My water heater died about a month ago, but fortunately it is in my garage and water didn’t really cause any major damage. When you replace it, you might want to look into getting a water heater drain pan which can collect the water and then drain it safely through a pipe.
Aside from the decals and possibly the instructions, it seems like your unbuilt kits should be OK. I hope that goes well with cleaning up the mess.
If the water was too hot most plastic should be ok just the decals are trashed. Instructions can be saved? One big question INSURANCE? Sorry to hear about your loss.
Really sorry to hear about that, man.
Your plastic should be okay, maybe you can open up the instructions and sun-dry them, on screen or maybe oven racks. One comfort is that there are plenty of sources for aftermarket decals, but I know the loss hurts.
Separate out your kits and plastic bag 'em, and see if you can salvage the instructions. If those can’t be saved, maybe emailing the manufacturer can get them to email you some new ones? Just a thought.
Again, very sorry to hear about your loss.
