Diorama : Last Full "Shoe" - some progress pics

Got some paint on the base…

More progress updates to come… [:)]

Oh man! Love it so far! The staircase is my favorite. But everything’s good, cobblestone texture, weathering, bullet holes, just waiting on a lot of rubble, may I ask about the title? I missed any previous WIP- Last Full “Shoe?”

Thanks.

The dio is inspired by the movie “Enemy at the Gates”. There was a scene there about the German sniper having his shoe cleaned…[;)] but the scene in this dio is quite different.

Ah ok very cool, it’s (from what I’ve seen) and excellent movie, however I’ve never been able to sit down and see the whole thing from beginning to end. It’s probably been on TNT or something and I’ll flip in halfway. I’ve been wanting to buy it.

Looking forward!

You’ve got to see it!!! it is one of my top three favorite movies!

and great looking diorama man…

Jim

really great Dwight! did you scratch build these builings or were the a kit? I’m really impressed with the level of detail you’ve put into them.

Everything you see except the lamp post and hanging lamp were built from scratch.

Thanks.

Ok Dwight , you can’t just say that yes they ‘were built from scratch’. They are just awesome, what is your secret method to making these?

Please… [swg]

There is a brief description about this base on this thread:

Thanks.

HOLY %**&! Dwight!

You’re SERIOUS about this diorama building stuff, aren’t ya?! [:P]

Man…I’m seriously impressed! I know the scene you’re talking about full well! WOW, this is gonna be something!

Just superb work on everything here; really an amazing level of work here!

I agree with the rest - your diorama scratchbuilding work is fantastic! I can never weather buildings in a way that makes them look very realistic.

Russ

Thanks for the responses, guys.

Doog:

Well all I can say is that I really love building dioramas. And it is nice to know that I am improving each time I build one. Problem is I have very little time for the hobby at the moment due to work and family. So I just try to maximize whatever little time I can spend on it.

Again, thanks.

Wow…the outsides of the buildings and street are superb…the insides, IMO, is where you begin to lose some of the realism…the colors are a little bright and garish, IMO…the exposed red bricks are too red and the greens are too bright…I think this will detract overall from the more important elements in your dio…you might consider sticking to warmer earth-tones for the insides…you can still have color, just mute it down some…just one opinion…again, the outsides are very well done…

I think the dark colors stood out because the major colors are very light as well as the background and the scene is pretty much bare. But that is OK because once I add the models, figures, debris and dust effects, it should suppress the loud colors.

Thanks for the tip.

GREAT Scratchbuilding Dwight!!! Very realistic…can’t wait for more…Incredible!![tup]

SORRY GOT CARRIED AWAY THERE…

Thanks and don’t worry. With the coming Holy Week, I will have more time to work on this diorama.

Very nice work so far! The buildings look great. This is wierd though. One time I thought of a diorama with buildings placed similar to this. Of course I don’t have the patience or push to start or finish a dio as good as this!

Very nice work, Dwight! If you were in Thailand I could add you to my builder list!

Thank you for the vote of confidence. However, I am a slow builder and I could not possibly churn out model as fast as AI or Tuk can. But I will try to visit your collection if ever I can go to Thailand again.

Thanks.
