Diorama idea for "Inglorious Basterds"...

For those of you who have seen the movie, and may have seen my “Last Kiss” Dio, what scene from the movie, in your opinion, would make the most interesting diorama in 35th scale???

For me i liked the two guys hitting the balcony that Hitler was sitting in. But that might be hard to do?

Scene from the ‘Big Red One’… at the very end after liberating the concentration camp, under a tree Lee Marvin was feeding and holding a child who then passed away in his hands. Maybe too depressing? Always touching.

Perhaps from the opening scene? Where the young girl escapes and the SS officer yells to her, “Au Revoir!”

Deafpanzer- I always loved the oven scene at the end of Big Red One- all the pent up emotions are released as he shoots the guy repeatedly… Lee Marvin whispering, “you got him…” and hands him another clip. very powerful.

How about the scene where the guy uses his bat in the interogation process???

A bit on the brutal side… Someone on here just did a similar diorama of that scene a couple weeks back. Sgt Hugo.

Serious?

How about the scene in the cafe’ when the French girl met with Goebbels?

Yes there was, but since the search function is not working here right now, I cant find the thread.

The Goebbels Cafe scene could be interesting… or the cellar standoff… lots of possiblities with this source for your inspiration.

I was mistake about it being on here. My apologies Herr FeldMarschall, it was on another forum- Aircraft Resource Center. I found the link.

~Well Manny, that’s a fun question. 1st off , I love the film. I know you did too. I’d say anyone that anyone who loves old movies and loves Tarentino flicks has to love this one, but me & you dug it the most[H]

I had alot of favorite moments in “Basterds”, but I think my favorite is when the coil is ready to spring, at the end of civilities at the table in the cellar, the British Lieutenant, lighting his cigarette, switching to English says,

“Well if this is it 'Ole boy, I hope you don’t mind if I go out speaking the King’s…”

it’s not like your own sack is on the line but Man! Ain’t there a lump in your throat right then ?! I’d like to see that moment somehow emortalized…though not an easy idea I know.

Far easier to pull off - with a Kubelwagon & 5 German figures, is the short clip with 3 on 2 in the Kubel with MP-40s------could be instantly recognizable and an opprtuinity to model alot of cracked glass & falling brass. [8o|]

How about a forestry track, with a parked Opel Blitz, one dead german on the ground, and Aldo Raine carving a swastika into Hans Landa’s forehead ?

[:$] DUH!!! I missed the subject so I thought you were asking about any war movies when I replied… Believe it or not I haven’t seen the movie Inglorious Bastards! It has been on my Netflix queue for a long time… it says 'VERY LONG WAIT". Jeez… I may be deaf but I am not deaf and dumb! LOL

Andy-

Neetflix sounds lame—how long do you have to wait–Take $15, go to Target- buy the movie—it’s a must see!

Wirray ~ One of your better ideas

Manny- Don’t dissapear again

Netflix just signed a deal with several of the studios, they will delay getting new release DVDs out to their customers (in order to increase sales of same just released DVDs) in return for lower prices on them when they do buy them for rental to their customers.

Supposedly their biggest business is actually older movies- at least that was the press release on the deal when it was on the news the other day. In that respect Netflix is cool… a great way to see older movies that most of the rental places dont have. Saw " The Sting" again thru them for the first time in years. Forgot how good it was. Have “Fail Safe” and “The Bedford Incident” in my queue since I was feeling in the mood for those Cold War thrillers.

And yes, if you are a Tarantino fan, this is definitely one of his better films- no historical accuracy whatsoever, just a action packed war movie, Tarantino style.

SP- WOW! DAMN… now it makes sense why I have been waiting so long. I have been able to watch most of the popular new releases right away but not this time with Inglorious Bastards.

Indy- I will take your word… I will go and buy it over the weekend. I collect war movies anyway. Thanks guys!

Manny- Sorry for highjacking your trend… I will make it up for you by paiting a female figure one day.

I was actually thinking about that same scene, albeit before the bat swingin’.

Or when the resistance woman is placing the billboard for German movie night, while the young office speaks at the bottom of the ladder.

brad pitt meeting his men in formation with the cobblestones and the narly neck scar

dont forget the scalping action

Id vote for the one bastard on the balcony emptying his smg into Hitler’s corpse (because I know Id have done it if I were in his position)

humm… you could go for a Group build on this idea…!!! humm… I liked all the ideas… I saw IB in the movie theater with surrond sound… totally awesome… the Celler Cafe scene was so intense in the theater…!!! I thought I was gona go nuts…

also, when Aldo is interorgating the Frech milk farmer, over the refuges in the cellar…
