Diorama “French Resistance” using Mini Art’s Village Diorama with Fountain and Master Box’s Maquis, French Resistance figure set - By “Art Instructor”:
This is from my latest page. There are more digital pictures on page:
Huge base for a couple of figures - and where is the rest of the building that has been destroyed? Rubble, broken glass, roofing, flooring, furniture, household items?
hi MM i must agree with bronto on the lack of rubble in the house, and only my two cents is he grass is really green (very bright in the photos).i do like the scene as a whole though,it pays tribute to those brave french folks who didn’t let the germans roll them over.btw nice effect of water running inthe fountian, very cool.
Thanks for all your comments and sorry for late reply. I forgot this thread until I have a new page to post (new page doesn’t contain a dio though). The building ruins, groundwork and rubble were designed by MiniArt and were built out of the box. If you look closely, the internal structure of the building doesn’t allow add-up of floor or other thing. It’s possible that what you see is what’s left there. After all, the theme of this dio is “French Resistance”, not “Village Furniture Show”.
It certainly does allow for build-up of an interior. All of these Mini Art buildings do. That’s why there’s a difference between the plastered walls and the bare part where the floors and load-bearing walls would be. As for the lack of furniture or other tell-tale signs that there once was a home or something here, I suppose the argument could be made that all of this was removed and cleaned up by the villagers. Maybe the building was destroyed some time ago. Maybe it’s just a ruin from some bygone time. Who knows? What’s there does look pretty good.
The figures are pretty nice, and I like the fountain a lot.
Well Maniac, great job on the Mini Art building. These two-sided vacume formed deals are not that easy to get right, especially around the wall ends. Your painting on the stone and walls is really nice. I particularly like the look of the window jams. This is all very nice and maybe the comments about the grass comes out because it appears less attention was paid to the groundwork, it just needs more dirt/weathering, varriation of some kind The figures look really good, alot like the kit was intended. I personally favor mixing up figures from other sources to form an original scene, but as an effert to build OOTB this is terrific. Thanks for posting
Thanks for more kind comments since my last reply!
Mic, I’m very happy with it and I guess so too.
jthurston, the interior is good to have, for photographic purpose. But when placed in a display case it’s at the backside and cannot be seen. So it’s OK not to have.
*INDY, you’re right about Mini Art buildings, they’re not easy to work with. It’s not me who painted but it was my main modeler who delivered 7 new pieces of work yesterday including a new dio. Has anyone built and shown the “Bloody Atoll” kit from Master Box?. I hope to show it on Monday.
