Diorama Building

I was wandering what material is used in dioramas?

I really liked the diorama Butz did for his Me-252…and i would like something like that for my Mustang…so i would appreciate all the help i can get[8D]

Hey shark,
You’ve got my attention there!! For the ground work I used the following:
**1.**Verlindens(I think) static grass
**2.**Mother natures good ol dirt.
**3.**2 - 1/4inch x 1/16inch balsa wood strips(2 feet long).

The next few steps I used a mixture of Elmers glue and water(ratio is up to you my friend) Then applied by a brush.
**1.**I started to lay down the planks and boy it was time consuming to boot. Give or take 2 hrs.
Believe it or not that was the hardest part because I was kinda flying blind[:p]. There were a few pics that showed the planking but I decided to do up my own version.
**2.**After that I sprayed my base an overall black( then once dried I sanded the edges). I guess thats an artistic touch[:p]
**3.**Basically I laid down the dirt in the area that I out lined. Let it dry for a bit and eventually tip the base over to take the excess off. Did touch ups as needed.
4. The final step was to lay down the static grass. At this point its up to you on how much grass you want or more important where do you want to place it. Again once dry I tipped it over to get the excess off. Then touched up as I saw fit.

Once thats all said and done, I start to apply my usual weathering. Using different tones of green I then start to apply it to the grass. The wooden planks were done by one shade of brown through my air brush(usually I do that by brush).

Basically when I do a base for my a/c I try to look at actual pics to get the general idea and then I take it from there!!
Ya know its easier for me to show than tell. No I’m not trying to be rude but its easier for me that way[:p]
