I need to make some more pics and post them, as I did some major changes this evening, the sides of the water are corrected, the oil is gone, and the overal % of water reduced. I post some after painting it.
I like it, Johan. I especially like the detail attention concerning the oil spill… shame to 86 it. One question that I had- is the vehicle, in your imagination, vacated or is it abandoned?
I think you’ve done well in getting that thing screwed in the mud.
In my imagination, the vehicle got hopelessly stuck in the mud combined with engine problems during a fast advance operation towards Voronej. It has been abandoned by its crew and will get picked a couple of days later for repair. An german tank officer (still WIP) will stand next to it and will observe the Sd Kfz 250/3. His height, combined with the sunken vehicle will be striking I hope
Cool. I think it looks really well done. If you felt uber-adventurous, you might consider having another crew member evacuating those mgs, + anything else valuable inside the vehicle. Maybe someone getting ready to get-gone with those feul canisters…
Some artist’s gloss gel medium could put some rippling effect in the water for you, if you so desire. Mixed with dirt, it can make very wet, fresh mud as well. And muddy footprints. It’s cool stuff.
Send some more pics, this looks really great [:)] Vehicle is well painted and the ground work looks very real. I love the plank.
I like it too. Perhaps some evidence in the mud of the crew abandoning it (footprints etc) would add something.
It looks like you did a good job on the 250. I’d have been worried about damaging it when arranging the mud around it but you seem to have managed it very well.
Same as Steve, it seems a shame to trash the oil effect.
Many thanks for the tips ! I’m going to see if I can try some out I’m starting to feel sorry that the oil is gone, but I can try it again in a next dio, using some more colors blue/green/etc… mixed with different layers of liquid water. I post some more pictures after some more paint work.
Here is an update. The figure is painted now, except for his iron cross. The water is redone at the sides, footprints are in the mud, more colors overall and washes, and some smaller thinsg. What do you think ?
i am glad to see some-one that did this event as it probably occured far to often.knowing that this is an advance.perhaps there would/could be even more people around.the driver anyway.as vehicle recovery would be taken care of immediatley.in this situation the water cans and weapons drawn for the vehicle would likely stay.orderly withdrawl or combat casualty would be stripped as soon as possible by either side.i think it was good to leave the equip. with the vehicle.some more tracks in the mud,1or2 more figs. would really tell you whats going on.
Thank you all. The frame is a really good idea, also some more soldiers around the vehicle will indeed tell a better story. Now, I need to have a look around to find some appropriate figures. Perhaps a maintenance crew working on the engine ?
The name is another question … a small plate would be nice with the name on it, but no idea how to make one for the moment,
