The access code from the last issue of FSM on Zinio is not working:
“The code you entered could not be found in our system. Please try again.”
I tried entering all 7 character and just the last 4 and get the same result.

And the normal download button isn’t on the page even though I’m logged in.
I don’t know, I haven’t bothered with the downloadable content since they started it. I don’t want to have to use yet another application (in this case, Zinio) to do something. The online issues are .pdfs, which is no fuss.
Hi guys,
The DLCs aren’t on the Zinio app. They’re on the website. If you’re a subscriber, you can log in and download the full PDF. That’s all you have to do. Here’s a link to all of the DLCs thus far.
BTW, the DLCs are full issues that replace the February, April, October, and December print issues. We’re still supplying 10 issues a year: 6 print and 4 digital. As subscribers have become used to the idea, we’ve seen the download numbers rise, but we need to keep seeing them improve. So please, don’t wait on them, make sure to get them as they drop.
Thanks!
I’ll have to go back and look at the emails and links again, but I’m certain that when I followed the link, I was directed to Zinio to open the file, instead of my local .pdf viewer. To proceed and open the file for viewing, I was prompted to create a Zinio login account.
I’ve gotten separate emails with links to .pdfs for the online versions of the magazine. That was for December 2021, and February, April, and October 2022.
Like I said, I have to go back now and look at these again and make sure my memory is correct.
i can get to the pages such as this
https://finescale.com/online-extras/2022/11/finescale-modeler-december-2022-dlc
But even though I’m logged in I don’t see any way to download.
Tim, the link you gave goes nowhere useful. There is no way I can find to download ANY of the the DLC’s and I have wasted a lot of time trying to do so.
As for your response about Zinio, that’s not what I meant. The page says to get the “FSMxxxx” access code from page 3 of the digital FSM issue on Zinio to use as the access code. Neither of the two codes list so far in digital FSMs’ work to access the december DLC.
The page says to “Lookup your subscription or enter your website access code below.” and offers buttons to “Enter the access code” or to “Find my subscription.” There is NOTHING in my subscription information that works.
Just what is the “access code” we are supposed to use? Where do we get it?
Thanks.
Yeah, I think that’s what happened with the December 2022 link. It’s not that I can’t access the page, it’s that there was no obvious way to download the file.
I can see the other issues on that page, the ones that I’ve downloaded in the past. I also see that in following the link in your post, my authentication does carry forward from the forum to the online extras page. I’m going to follow it again and log in and see what happens.
I also think that that link is available here in the forum pages, under Extras, for example. I’m going to play with this some more.
Yes, I see that this is available under Extras. However, same thing happened-when I navigated to Extras from this thread, my authentication is not passed along. I have to log in again.
Once I log in, I can follow the link from there for the December 2022 issue, and I stayed logged in on that hop, too.
From there, there is an open link to download the pdf:

I clicked the link and was able to download that file successfully.
We have to be logged in to see the download link.
Can you please paste the PDF link? I’ve tried clearing my cookies and going through the steps you mentioned to no avail.
Sure, the specific link to the file itself is:
https://finescale.com/~/media/files/pdf/finescale-modeler-dlc/2022/04-december-dlc/1222fsmdlc.pdf
When you tried before you were definitely logged in on the DLC page,
https://finescale.com/online-extras/2022/11/finescale-modeler-december-2022-dlc
that is, your login status at the top of the page showed, “Welcome back, keavdog” with the logout link bolded? When I first navigated to that page from the forum’s index page, I arrived on the DLC page as logged out. I had to log in again, on that page, to see the link to download the pdf.
Thank you! Yes - after I cleared my cookies I noticed I wasn’t logged in after clicking on the extras link. I logged in, clicked the new DLC and now download link. I’ve seen them in the past and actually shared with folks that had similar issues.
In any case, I have the document now - gracias Baron.
Sure thing, John!
And I just got clarification myself on why I thought of Zinio-that’s for the online issues of the magazine, not the downloadable content. I got my email notification this morning for the January/February 2023 issue:

When the online issues were first implemented, I remember following the link to view it.
But because we need Zinio to view them, or at least, because I couldn’t see any way to download them, and because I get the hardcopy, anyway, I decided it wasn’t worth it to follow up any further. I didn’t want to create yet another login for yet another app and possibly have to have yet another client installed on my machine.
So now I understand what Tim said. Downloadable content-pdf. Online issues-Zinio.
OK, now I see the problem. The required access code was not yet available on Zinio, making access to the DLC impossible. Once the Jan/Feb issue appeared on Zinio, the latest access code was available.
Tim, you need to wait on releasing the DLC until the print issue is available on Zinio so we can get the current access code. This scheduling snafu can’t possibly be helping the download number.
BTW I love the DLC’s, the content is most excellent!
Tom
Sorry I haven’t been back sooner. Between BAMM and the holiday, we’ve been swamped. Yes, Baron, that’s exactly right. You have to be logged in and at the bottom of the DLC page is the download link. At that point, save it and view it in your preferred application.
Hi Tom,
I’m sorry that this has been a frustration for you, but I’m glad you’re enjoying the DLCs.
The DLCs drop on a publication schedule that matches the print issues they replaced. For us, this was the best and easiest way to make sure they fit into the production schedule. DLCs drop the second Tuesday of the month prior to the issue month: January for the February DLC; March for the April DLC; September for the October DLC; and November for the December DLC. (I know, it can be confusing even to those who work in periodicals publishing.)
As for downloading, it’s been a learning curve for readers, but the numbers continue to go up as subscribers continue to become familiar with or aware of the DLCs. The DLCs are continuously available once published to the website, so whenever you’re able to log in, they’ll all be there. The important thing for subscribers to remember is that you need to be logged into FineScale.com in order to gain access to the DLCs because they are behind the paywall. Non-subscribers can purchase the DLCs on the Kalmbach Hobby Store a month after they’ve been released to the site for subscribers.
i’ve tried everything suggested and nothing comes up for me. i’m ready to throw my hands in the air and just say forget it.
Hi Ford Fan,
I’m assuming you’re a subscriber. Non-subscribers cannot download DLCs from the website and have to purchase them through the Kalmbach Hobby Shop online.
First, go to FineScale.com and make sure you’re logged into the website. You can tell by looking at the top of the page to the right of the red Audi race car. If it says “Welcome back, YOUR USER NAME,” then you’re logged in. If you’re not, you’ll need to log in first.
Here is the link for the December DLC. If you’re logged in when you click it, then it will take you directly to the page where you can download the DLC.
You can skip over the DLC description and scroll down to the section that says Downloadable Files. (If you’re not logged in AND a subscriber, this option will not appear.)
Click December 2022 DLC. If you’re looking at RELATED ARTICLES, you’ve gone too far. The download link is right above that.
It may open the PDF in your browser. Go ahead and download it onto your computer and view it at your leisure.
yes i’m a suscriber and according to the top of the page i’m logged in. every time i go to the link it tells me i need to enter an access code or suscribe. i’ve never seen the download link. i’m not the smartest computer guy but nothing seems to work.
Good, you’re logged in, which means you’re a registered user. When it asks you for an access/account number, you have two options: The first is to use the access code that is provided with your Zinio copy of the issue, or you can enter the 11 or 12 digit account number from the mailing label on your print issue. The latter often looks something like #12345678987#.
