Decal drying time before applying Solvaset

How long should I wait before applying solvaset to a decal once applied to the model and once applied how long to let it dry?

I apply it as soon as Ive dabbed the excess water from the decal. I also usually wait a day or so after decaling before clear coating and wash.

While you can apply a solvent as soon as the decal is in place, I prefer to use a setting solution first. Only if I don’t get good enough results with the setting solution do I apply a decal solvent. Solvents can do bad things to some decals and some finishes so I am reluctant to use a solvent as a normal course of decal work.

Once applied, I let it sit for about three to four hours. Touching a decal before the solvent has dried thoroughly can lead to disaster!

Thanks Gents, I will take your advice.

I have had decals “float” and walk out of position if I apply solvent before they are good and dry of water or setting solution. Then I come back a few hours later and find “Oh, ****, they’re stuck for good!”

I also have found that problem. If I do use solvent, I hang around for awhile, doing other tasks but keep an eye on the decals. If they start to wander I use knife tip or sharp tweezers to get them back in place. I find if they do not move in the first ten or fifteen minutes they generally will be okay.
