Death of a Big Cat

This is my latest. Panther Ausf.A, almost certainly destroyed by its crew, East Prussia circa February 1945. This is based on two pictures of this destroyed beast. The scale is 1/72, the base kit is Dragon’s, with a few Revell parts thrown in. Dragon’s kit are often real beauties in their boxes, but I find that the parts often require a lot more prep time than Revell’s (or many other brands for that matter). Zimm is engraved directly onto the plastic, but the most time-consuming job was to replicate the burn out road wheels by scraping off the rubber bands. Yet, little can be noticed once the model is finished.. The painting and weathering took a while with base grey primer coat followed by red oxyde primer, German sand, green cammo, whitewash, markings, washes, drybrushing, burnt metal areas and soot. All that and most of it end up covered in snow.. LOL
