DeAgostini Millennium Falcon

I subscribed to this model and finally the first parts have arrived. Its a huge, detailed monster. I recently built a MPC vintage Falcon complete with LED lighting and weathering to fine tune my skills for this one.

The MPC Falcon:

This DeAgostini model is an exact replica of the original prop and although comes pre-painted I will do a complete paint job on it. Here are the first pieces from Package 1.

Canons are real metal and are very detailed. I started on them and cleaned the flask the had from the molding process and polished to a nice smooth shine.

Right ones are polished, left one are untouched.

Complete assembly

The cabin rear wall comes with a translucent decal the will later be completed with a LED system as part of the kit. This quick pic shows how light pass through it.

I have other project running but as soon as continue with the Falcon will post more progress. Here is the blue print…thing is huge!

A bit more of frame work and cockpit work. The chairs will be repainted both front and back ones since the color is wrong.

First hull plate added to frame. This thing is sturdy as hell and fit is top notch

Looks pretty darn good!

I was thinking of starting this. How has your experience with it been?

Thanks,

– Tony (Darth Vapor)

You’re going to love this model!

Surely hope you continue to update this thread, Joe.

Looks like its going to be one heck of a kit indeed and I look forward to watching your progress.

Thanks guys! So far Im loving the experience. The literature provided is very nice and gives some info that Ive never seen anywhere. Will continue to update more as more parts come in.

Quite an ambitious project. Good luck with it

One of the more interesting features of the build is when they tell you where each of those parts came from and the history behind the build itself. It’s an amazing model in all categories.

Hey Joe… thought I would pop in and say Hi. Love the work you did on the MPC. I’ve got two MPC’s in my stash I’ve been thinking of taking out and working on (even got the Falcon Sidewall and Landing Gear kit for one of them). I’ll be following you my friend! Looking good so far!

Oh… you may get some good ideas from my friend Ian who’s been working on this kit for awhile. Since he’s in the UK he’s gotten up to Issue 17 I think. So he’s way ahead of us in the build stages. But he’s done some awesome work so far. He’s doing 2 of them. One OOB with no modifications… the other he’s doing to the 5’ footer standards. He knows I’ll be stealing a bunch of his ideas as I continue with this baby! Here’s a link to his pages for reference:

This is going to be an impressive model - looking forward to the build

Here’s a good tip for ya Joe… run a felt tip marker along the edge of the sticker on the cockpit console. It’ll make it look a bit more realistic and not so stickerish!

So, here is part of my second pack. USPS has been extremely slow and DeAgostini will now send me the packs through UPS.

Here is mock up of the cabin inside cockpit tube and the cockpit canopy.

This time there were a lot of pieces that came without any instructions, you will have to save them until the times comes to use it.

The cockpit and LED lighting are finished for now. Its starting to take shape. So far no major problems have been experienced.

I have never seen a finer rendition of the Falcon.

slow applause

Too kind, really sir, too kind… [:$]

Did a few more details in the interior bay. Still will paint most of these items to really bring details from it.

Added the tubing greeblies that came with the kit but added a few details and an additional tube made of solder wire. Will add more and detail and weather accordingly. Also detailed the console and will dry brush it later.
