DC-10/MD-11 Kits?

Anyone have any experience with a good DC-10 or MD-11? There are several kits to found on scalemates.com, but many are very old tools.

Eastern Express make a DC-10

How’s the Revell kit? The reviews I could find, pre the Eastern Exp. kit, seem to favor it over the Airfix kit.

Authentic Airliners makes a DC-10-30, and that’s the one to get. It’ll be expensive, but will be well worth it. It’s currently unavailable, but will no doubt be back in production. AA’s kits are the best there are.

Welsh Models makes an MD-11, and it is currently available with Delta decals.

Both these kits are 1/144 and either is far better than the old Revell and Airfix kits.

Hmmm;

I do know of one. But you probably think I am nuts! It’s paper.

I seem to remember Minicraft did a DC-10 in 1/144.

Minicraft had DC-8s and MD-80s, but not the DC-10 or MD-11.

Eastern Express produces DC-10-30s. I haven’t seen this kit specifically, but it is one the company’s more recent kits, which, while typical of short-run kits, are OK. And far better than either the Airfix (windows too low and engine pylons too long) or Revell (just doesn’t look right, especially up front).

Eastern Express and Mikro Mir have MD-11s in their catalogs. Again typical of short run but buildable wth work.

My fervent wish is for Zvezda to do one or both. Aeroflot flew them as cargo aircraft, so here’s hoping.

Thanks for all the info folks!

Micro Mir is a part of the Eastern Express DC-10 project.

I’d have to do a Freddie Laker one.

Bill

I might’ve been thinking Hasegawa.
