This is the Das Werk kit. Built this one recently. Had some fun with this one, and really pleased with the way the weathering turned out. My aim was to show a relatively new vehicle, as these were produced in the last months of the war. Overall, a good kit. Amazing engine detail, a great start for you super-detailing guys (I’m not one of them), and a lot of other details that eventually get hidden. For the record, this kit is less expensive than the Trumpeter version, and also has more (better, and more accurate) details. A couple of fit issues, but they were probably my fault.
Finished with Tamiya TS-3 Dark Yellow from a rattle-can, and airbrushed with Humbrol dark green (forgive me for forgetting which number). Old-school weathering, mostly artist oil color, washes, and dry-brushing. I know it’s all about color modulation, pre-shading, in-progress shading, post-shading, over-shading, under-shading, shading-shading, chipping, dipping, pipping and skipping these days, but the old methods work for me, thanks. And to tell the truth: A lot of modern weathering looks overdone to me.
That looks good, like the way the camo came out
Talk about a big 'ol boy in 1/16 scale. Man that thing must take up a LOT of display space Mark. Beautiful build with plenty of details and like Tony (@Tojo72) said…GREAT camo work.
Wow! That’s amazing!
Stunning! Looks like a very clean build. Weathering is subtle and realistic for a relatively low-hours track.
The build and especially the camouflage is excellent! The PAK 40 equipped version is my favorite version too! A+++!
Great job! Looks very tastefully done.
I am in the same camp as you as far as weathering goes
That turned out great! I noticed on “Armorama” today that Jeff Shiu has come out with some new 1/16 German figures that might work for this kit.
You sir have skills! This finished results looks amazing. I have the early kit (less gun). As Tom said, I also have the figures for the troop version. I canonly hope to achieve the results you have done here, great job!
It’s a beautiful piece. I greatly enjoyed going through the pictures. Packed with subtle details throughout.
Very nice build. Like @PhoenixG said, lots of subtle details. The rolled up tarp strapped to the right fender really caught my eye. So realistic looking.
