Damanged zimmerit

I used to post on here a few years ago but after moving I lost track but now I’m back. I can’t ever remember what name I used since I was on several forums so please forgive me.

Now to my queation.

I’m going to do a Tiger I tank and it will have some batttle damange as well as some damanged zimmerit. I was wondering what color would be under the zimmerit that I remove. Would it be yellow, red primer or bare metal?

One other question. Were there any Tiger I tanks used in the Battle of Berlin or had they all been used up by then? I can’t seem to find any. I know there were 2 King Tigers and some Pathers but so far I can’t find any Tiger I’s.

Thanks!!

As I recall this discussion concluded red primer was the most likely.

Built, primered, pasted w/zim.

Take a look at this and see what you think the color might be Colonel.

There were some Tiger I’s that served in Berlin; one was posed near the Brandenberg Gate at the end of the war. Can’t remember the division though. But they were there.

The color of the zimm was a light tan-gray. LIke plaster, basically. The color underneath would depend on the depth of the chip. Deep chips and gouges would be best done in steel. Lighter, more superficial would be zimm-colored, and deep ones would expose the red primer.

Best to paint them in 3-D; that is, first paint steel, then a border of primer red, then another border around that of tan/grey. That way you’ll have a “layered” look, which is really effective.

Mix it up though. Don’t do all of them the same. And don’t overdo it.
