Does anyone remember the book “Flight of the Old Dog”? I have started refitting an old BUFF(1:200) to what I can remember about it .I’ve only been able to find one image of the O.D. and it had the “old” BUFF engines. Luckily some one pointed out that in a later book the more modern engines were installed. Good thing because I robbed a 747-300 of it’s engines to do this , right or wrong.[:D] The nose is not completed(this just a mock up to get me started) and was wondering if any of you can direct me to any decent images of the Old Dog. I’m going to find a copy of the book for the discription of the aircraft, but am hoping to see it for a better reference. I’ve heard tales of some actual models of this BUFF, but can’t find any. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.[:)]

Your “creations” are just great - I love watching them come together.
So many of us are buried in “authenticity - rivet counting”, resin aftermarket and PE details - and you just hack up models and stick the bits back together in a more interesting way - fantastic, man. Good deal - and please keep butchering and reassembling your models - they’re great to look at, mate.
About the only possible criticism I have is that the engines on the B-52 look a little overscale…maybe that’s because I’m so used to seeing the much smaller twin pods on B-52’s…otherwise, go for it.
Thank you for your compliments. The funny part is, now when I go looking for models, I’m looking at the box and thinking how I can “modify” it. I am actually working on a “real” model ( Blue Angel A-4) and bought a F-20 yesterday to build completely unmolested. I love that bird. I also bought a 1:144 F-117 to chop up and rebuild it the right way.[;)]
I also thought the engines looked oversized, but after you look at it in front of you for a while, it works out. Maybe after it is painted, the proportions will settle out. The silver seems to draw attention.

Here’s the latest progress of my Old Dog. I’m now working on the external weapons and fuel stores. I brought the inboard engines closer to wing by trimming the pylons. I’m also going to take artistic license by adding a couple of extra fuel tanks to the wings.[:D]

Weapons are done, hung and the black paint is on. A few touch ups and It’ll be ready to join the collection of my not so real models.[;)][:D]The weapons are mix of air to air, air to ground and a few ALCMs to complete the load. Just for fun, I also modified one of the ALCMs to look like it is in flight. Here are the progression photos up to this point.[:)]
