Wanted to share some pics of our Dad/son build. It’s the Revell Devastator 1:48 kit. About all I did on it was the 2 tone paint job and the BMF canopy frame. My son thought it would look ‘cooler’ with canopy like that. He did a great job on the figures, battle damage, and weathering by himself. However, the antenna wire was a joint effort! The decals kinda ripped and curled over time but he claims it looks torn and worn. I agree. The kits decals were a little too thick for my taste. Anyway, it was a good build and we enjoyed it. Comments always welcomed…
[tup] You and your son did a fine job on that venerable Monogram Devastator kit. Nice weathering job and I like the bullet holes. Now if only someone, Accurate Miniatures perhaps, would do an updated Devastor …
I really enjoyed this one. Very well done. Looks like you all learned a couple of things, painting figures, weathering, decals, even how to do a diorama. Excellent. My nine year old son loves to do models with me and go to club meetings and model contests. My 13 year old is sort of into it, more into video games and drawing. How old is your son? Hope to see more of your efforts.
Great job, both of you! The weathering effect and battle damage are spectacular! Your son is vert talented, he’ll be giving you a run for the money soon! Thanks for sharing!
Andy and Will: Great Job all around. THe battle damage and weathering is nicely represented, and the figures look busy at work. In a few more years I hope my oldest son wants to dive into a kit with me. Father/son (or daughter for that matter) builds are a great aspect of the modelling hobby. I’m in a LONG term (over 1 year) father/son build of a 1/32 P-38 with my father…who knows, maybe it will be a grandfather/father/son build in a few years!
Great job and, Will, I look forward to seeing some more of your work! Have you sone any “solo” work? You know, without the “old man”?[:D]
