czech #7701

it’s me again! i need some refrences for the top, bottom and rear view of the mig 21 czech stress team #7701. if anyone has any decals or something for “donation”…

You looking for the black scheme or the gray splinter scheme for 7701?

Fade to Black…

there’s a black scheme?!?!

i’m sure both will be helpful, i have most pictures of the white/light grey/dark grey splinter cept on the top and the bottom (is it just white?)

and i’ve never heard of the black scheme, i’m sure that one looks better, hopefully

Yessiree, before 7701 wore the splinter scheme she wore a scheme which was similar to that worn by 7711; only real difference being that the rest of the aircraft was painted black instead of the regular camo.

At some point 7701 had her wings replaced, with these replacements being finished in the standard camo and very badly weathered.

I think it was after 7711 and 3756 were lost in 1998 that 7701 was painted in the splinter scheme.

Anyhoo, until I can do some scanning, here’s a page which shows all three of the better known aircraft of the Stress Team, incuding 7701 in the black scheme…

Colorful Czech MiGs

Forgot to add that the splinter scheme seems to have the patterns extend down a bit below the wing on the forward fuselage and all the way down to the ventral fin on the rear fuselage, but that the actual undersurfaces were solid light gray.

thanks blackwolf, where do you get these things?

i find the picture http://www.samolet.co.uk/jpegs/czech13.jpg pretty amusing

Okay, these aren’t all the best quality but they’re useful, nonetheless…

I think i’ll still do the splinter, looks much better imho, but about 20 times more work. oh well, it’s a hobby

I haven’t forgotten about this, guy. I’m workin’ on the other scheme, bit by bit…

Gee, Wolf, if I had a MiG 21, I wouldn’t be as picky as that – you’ve shown us one beautiful scheme, and I’d build it in a minute. BTW, who makes the best MiG 21 now in 1/48. I like the old, uncluttered variations. The last one I built was abou 12 years ago, the only non-toy that came in 1/48, and I built it for Combat Jets Flying Museum. It was a model of our MiG 21, which we acquired in a roundabout way from the Hungarian AF, through China and some othrer mysterious route, then painted in Soviet markings.
But, back to the model, my assignment was to do our 1:1 plane in 1/48, and all I recall about the kit was that the plastic was very soft, thick and heavy and that the decals on the enormous sheet, including the stencils, all had to be cut out individually because the whole sheet was on one clear film. Kit built up okay for the time, and in practically every single MiG-21 varient. Now, who can tell me who produced those kits, for they made other Eastern Bloc kits as well? I think it was Czech or Polish firm.
TOM

it may have been frog. what color was the plastic. how many parts were there?

The best mig 21 in 1/48 is probubly the academy mf kit. the best in 32 is DEFINAtLY the trumpeter one. not sure about 72, may be fujimi or a hasegawa

Fujimi’s are the best in 72nd.

Hi There!

If it´s the White/Darkblue/light blue splinter pattern… use this google link to a lot of sites with pictures of it…
http://www.google.com.br/search?hl=pt-BR&ie=UTF-8&q=MIG-21MF+7701&meta=
I´m doing(trying to) it on a 1/32 MIG 21 from Revell Germany…
Hope this helps!

Daniel

FINALLY!!! LOL

Okay, I was able to scan some of what I have and, with what you probably found on that Google deal, this should do 'ya.

I didn’t break 'em up into separate images though…

Sharkskin, i think the kits you’re thinking about might have been made by OEZ…
