Hi all,
I’ve just purchased Floyd Werner’s Master Class Clinic #1 which is a build of a Messerschmitt 109 G6. In the DVD Floyd uses masks called Black Magic made by a company called Cutting Edge. Does anyone know where I’d be able to get them? I Googled them and all I found were reviews but nobody selling them retail.
He also used a type of plastic mask for the wheel rims. It looked like a plastic ruler with holes of different sizes punched into the plastic. Anyone know of a modelling shop where I’d be able to get such an item?
Regards
Dean
Dean,
Cutting Edge products were sold by a company called Meteor Productions, which ceased doing business a year or two ago. Some of their items can still be found on Ebay, though the most desirable go for a lot of $$$. Eduard makes pre-cut masks as well, and generally are a good product.
The circle template you mention can be found at most art and craft stores, or drafting supply houses. [tup]
As Frank said, the Black Magic masks went bye bye with the rest of the Cutting Edge line. When they were available, I tried a couple of sets & wasn’t overly impressed. The Eduard masks, using the Tamiya tape base, are far superior.
Regards, Rick
I have to agree with Rick. I used the Cutting Edge masks twice and both sets did not want to lay flat over tightly curved surfaces such as the top of the canopy. The edges lifted up after about five minutes no matter how many times I burnished them down. The Eduard set are far superior in my opinion. You might also want to check out another product called Fast Frames. They have a much smaller product line but I have had excellent results with them too.
