I want to cut a hydrocal/ceramic structure to custom fit my diorama. What type of saw/blade should I use? What precautions should I take? Does the cutting need to be a “wet” cutting like that for Resin?
Thanks for your input

If it’s a straight cut, I just use my hobby saw. Small cuts and curves, I use a #11 blade that has the tip broken off. Precautions? Health or other?..
Steve,
The cuts would be jagged. Do you need a motorized saw for that? Precautions refered to breathing issues, ventilation, general health given that you have to keep fingers away from theblade!

If I was cutting a ceramic / plaster piece, with jagged angles, to custom fit it to form on a dio base, then I might use a motor saw or Dremel. That would be super fast. I would take the piece outside, as to not cover half of my house with a layer of ceramic dust. Sure, I would recommend a dust mask.
If I am making minor cuts for form fitting, I wouldn’t get so mechanized. Again, I would use a hobby saw, without a mask. When it’s said and done, this method will have my piece cut faster than setting up my Dremel. And i can stay seated [:P]
If I am doing smaller work, like"destroying" the sides of a ceramic / plaster building, I would use different sizes of pliers to tear at it, making jagged angles representing destruction.
I know it might be a little difficult to explain exactly what it is you are trying to accomplish. No biggie… I say just use whatever works.
I’d just chuck a small steel-cutter in the Dremel… Dust mask and safety glasses are enough “protection”… Might wanna do it outside though,.
