Hello all. Just wondering if anyone knows where one of these kits can be had. I can recall having such a kit when I was young. The thing was a pretty large scale and sat on a stand. The stand had two buttons: One to operate the engine and one to retract and extend the landing gear. I’d love to have another shot at this kit now that I’m older and more experienced. I don’t even know who made the kit.
Anyone familiar with this? Thanks.
Sounds like Monogram’s 1/32 scale “Phantom Mustang” to me. Monogram re-released it back around '95 or '96 and that’s when I first saw it. I thought that complete internal structure was cool. I still would like to get one and build it and super detail it, and leave one side clear and the other painted and decaled. If anyone knows where to get one for a reasonable price, I would be interested too.
Yep…I think that’s it. The year I’m talking is the mid to early 80’s. I’m hoping it has been re-released.
I would give my i-teeth to lay my hands on a 1/32 Phantom Mustang! Good luck finding one.
If you check on the Great Models website, you should be able to find the Hasegawa 1/70 scale P-51D Mustang Skeleton Classic (use their datbase search feature). A smaller version, but maybe it will satisfy your hankering for a cut-away Mustang.

Well, I found one on e-bay…but he states that the parts are loose in the bag. I’m not real crazy about that. Guess I’ll keep my eyes open elsewhere.
keep your eyes open for them on ebay. i am something of a regular and see them off and on. prices vary hugely, so decide what you will pay and bid late (so others don’t build up their courage spending YOUR money). if it gets too pricey, wait for the next one; they aren’t that rare yet. my buddy got me one for Christmas from his local hobbyshop, so check around, there may still be some on the shelves.
Old thread I know, but wow look at this! Has anybody built one? http://www.hlj.com/product/IMCZ-002/Air
