Cut-Away Falcon

Hey everyone I just got the original release of the cut away version of the Millinium Falcon on e-Bay [:D] Man I have been trying and trying to get this kit for sometime now as best of all I only paid $19.40 … So to everyone that’s been trying to get that hard to find kit , keep looking and you’ll get it , Now if I could just get a Battlestar Galatica Viper kit for under $100 I’d be happy as a monkey climbing a tree .

Heck, my local hobby shop still has some on the shelf!

How much and how many ?

You are more likely to find those old Kits catching dust on a shelf at a small HS than on e-Bay.

Over here we still got many old Kits on the shelf. only 2 days ago I saw a Death Star tucked away on a shelf. Another shop has AURORA kits still on the shelf, Godzilla, Rodan & Planet of the Apes.

6 months ago I managed to pick up a Buck Rogers fighter, kit ws missing one engine half but an RTV mold and the second engine resulted in 2 Resin engines on the kit.
[:D]

Another shop still has snow-speeders, speeder-bikes, etc.

Visit the little “Hall in the Wall” shops and start digging you most likely will find a few treasurers, I know I do.

Problem with that is I have 2 hobby stores here , Hobbytown USA and another one I won’t even mention due to there repugnant pricing , of couse I can goto Hobbylobby and sometimes I’ll find good stuff , but so far my best finds and buys have been on e-Bay

[#offtopic]sorry sewer rat…but,
great signature John P.
love your expression on your face.
I 'm guessing thats a Arado 234?

You’re right, MMF. I’ve found many similar treasures in small shops around Osaka, as well!

Buck Rogers Starfighter question for ya: the kit I bought is the Monogram kit, imported by Tsukuda Hobby with the interesting banner, “S.F. Old Time.” No mention of Monogram at all on the box or in the instructions. Is this the same release you found, MMF? Or did you find the actual Monogram import release?

I didn’t get one, but the same shop also had about 10 Draconian Marauders, too!

Gotta love those little shops!

Mine was the actual Monogram import Kit, but I do believe that it is the same kit., was at a 2nd-hand Kit shop. Many of the Batman and similar kits in the states released are/were often repackaged Tsukuda Kit. I think the companies got a deal to issue each others kit under their local name.

The Monogram kit is very basic to say the least about, wish someone would do a better one. Fine Molds are you listening??

Ah, if only Fine Molds would do all of our favorites…

I agree, the Tsukuda Starfighter kit I have is definitely the Monogram kit. I built two or three back in the States when they were first released. Same exact packaging and instruction sheet, too. The only difference is that the name Monogram has been expunged from all literature and packaging.

Same here SewerRat. All the old hobby shops here have gone out of business. All I have is Hobby Town USA [over priced unless it’s on clearance], Hobby Lobby [love those coupons], and one littel independant shop that has a few good prices but he specializes in model trains and everything else is secondary.

Me and J-Hulk are not just talking about hobby stores, but small little toy-stores and similar that often stock kits too.

If you only got to the big bad wolf hobby stores you won’t find the bargains, you need to look for them in the unlikely places.
[:D][:D]

That brings up a good question .

Why is that there’s Hobbytown USA’s all over the place and there prices are so [censored] high ? you’d think they’d be able to sell at a lower price than other place’s , and besides that as far as getting tools from them , HA good luck , that’s almost as bad as finding the kit you want .

I like kit hunting on ebay , however your taking a chance there sometimes , I’ve been ripped off 3 times from sellers , so when do we get a break ???[soapbox]

But that’s just it, even the local Toy stores and department stores have already or are gradually phasing out the models. The “mom and pop” small businesses can’t afford to stay in business around here. I WISH we had places that sold things like used kits. When i was a kid there were tons of places for this stuff. Oh well. Yeah, Hobby Town is very expensive. Fortunately I have yet to suffer at the hands of an e-bay sheister! But e-bay lately has been where I have bought most of my models for the past 3 months. There and Hobby Lobby when they have a sale.

That’s right!
I found the biggest stash of old Monogram Godzillas, Battlestar Galacticas, Buck Rogers Starfighters and Draconian Marauders, and many other old weird kits in a TEA SHOP! I just happened to look into the window, and on the back wall saw stacks of kits. The owner said her husband had run a hobby shop there years ago, but when he passed away she turned it into a tea shop, but kept the models.
I didn’t get any tea, but I walked out with two Godzillas, a Battlestar, Buck’s Starfighter, and an Aurora Dimetrodon!

That was 10 years ago…I wonder if the shop is still there?
Gonna have to check it out!

I remember this kit being clearanced for $9.90 at Toys R Us and fairly recently at a Toy Liquidators (Kay Bee outlet sore) for around $4.99. Those Aurora kits of the movie monsters and Planet of the Apes are re-pops by Polar Lights and are probably less than 3-4 years old. Some of these can still be found in the clearance aisles of local TRU stores for $4.90-9.90.

Yeah my local Toy Liquidators has some of those Polar Lights monsters as well. I check all the resale stores as well. I find a lot of old toys for kitbashing and scratch building but that’s about it.

Have you seen this Viper? You may be pleased.

A massive improvement over the old Monogram kit. Not to mention all the options!

I got a Viper Colonial (Revell Monogram Kit),
I just found it on a Grocery Store here in Mexico
last night…

I may sell it , trade it. , I dont know yet. But I am
open for any offer.

Oh hum … ,

Well I just went to an outlet store today and low and behold they had a Kay Bee toy store , well inside and can you guess what I found ???

A cut a way Falcon , HA HA HA HA [banghead] well I bought one on ebay but at $2.50 I decided to buy 3 more which was all they had [censored] I guess you never know . They had some monster kits but I’m not into that stuff , did buy some WW2 aircraft including a 1/48 B-17F I also got a Bird of Prey , 3 Alien , The Deep Space 9 station , 2 Enterprises , And the best a 1/400 of the U.S.S. Enterprise from Revel and while I know its not the best kit out there I only paid 14.00 for it [:D] I spent about 75.00 and walked away happy . So I think the Falcon I got on ebay for 20.00 bucks is gonna stay in its wrapping [(-D] I’m building an Alien Warrior as we speak [;)]
