As for the Chip Paint using Salt, it’s like you said, I am getting white stains from the water, so I had to resand and repaint and I will NOT be trying that again anytime soon. [:P]
I use Model Master Acryl 99% of the time.
And for these so called " Bullies" there [censored] 's, there just jealous…[(-D]
I had a BAD day so for today… I was masking off the XP-55 to paint the OD and a LOT of the Light Grey riped off… Hmmmmmm I waited 24hrs for it to dry. Should I have waited longer or should I have put another coat of Future on ? Anyone have any info on what happened to me here.

When I salt chipped I ended up grinding up some of my plastic spruce and using that in place of the salt. I thought the water might have had some minerals that were also leaving the white marks so i used my acrylic thinner (isocol in this case) as the medium and as I was brushing it on over an enamel I had no worries about it reacting with the paint.
I was really happy with the results and will happily do this again.

Sounds like a plan Mark[8D] a little beer might help ol’ Bud out since he’s using acrylics on this bird. Think he needs to let it dry for 72 hours & then try again. Since he’s in cold country PA… paint takes a bit longer to set up & all.
I figured it out. Bud you dont have a water softner do you? If not thats why you are getting spot hard water spots just like when you wash a car and you get those little white spots coused from calcium and other crap in the water, try bottled water, evan though i know you aint gona try it again.[:P]
Did you still have any of the silver on under the light grey base?
If so,
Did the grey only come off in the areas where there was still a lot of silver left?
Is the silver an enamel?
Did you pull the tape off along it’s length?
When removing masking tape you should always pull it off at 90 deg to the direction the tape lies. You should also keep your hand as close to the surface as possible and gently pull it away.
This way you’ll see the tape sort of roll off the surface. It works for $20G plus paint jobs an show cars and hasn’t let me down yet.
Bud, Just remember, ya gotta let the paint cure before you do anything else. Or, you will be busy fighting this over & over. When pulling the tape, do it slowly & watch the edge between it & the paint as Mark suggested.
Just to let y’ll know that I repainted the silver undercoat the other day and I just put the Future and now I am going to let it sit for 3 days…Hmmmmmm what to do now [:P]
HA HA Bud knows my opinion on Acrylics. I went back to enamels. That way i dont have any more of those issues, and until they figure how to get the quality up to the enamel level iam sticken with enamel. Ive talk to bud And ed they know. And i know some body out there is gona say you should where a resperator when spraying enamels, well ive been around Laqures and enamels for most of my life my father owned bodyshops you name it ive breathed it ive also an ex smoker, Iam 35 yrs old and still healthy I think sitting in traffic and sucking exauste fumes will kill you faster.[2c]
