Crew for versuchsflakwagen and Sturer Emil

Hello all,

I recently bought Bronco’s 1/35 Versuchsflakwagen and I’m thinking about buying Trumpeter’s Sturer Emil model. I’m wondering about crew, I looked at Dragons German Flak Artillery Crew 6275 which is a winter crew for the 88mm Flak and/or Tamiya 1/35 German Tank Crew At Rest 35201.

The Dragon 88mm crew would be perfect for the Verscuhsflakwagen except that the vehicle never saw action in a winter scenario. It was sent to Denmark for testing and that was it. So the clothing wouldn’t fit if I wanted to be realistic. However I thought maybe I could put them manning Sturer Emil since that vehicle saw action on the Eastern front during winter. Perhaps the German tank Crew at Rest would work for the Flakwagen then? I’m not sure because there doesn’t seem to be many figures for Self Propelled Artillery around anymore and I’m not looking to spend more than $15 for a figure set. I’ve found both of these for under $15.

Any opinions? Should I just say heck with historical accuracy and go for what might look good on the shelf? Anyone else know of figures that might look good with these models, I’m not afraid to mix and match sets.

Thanks

“…heck with historical accuracy and go for what might look good on the shelf?” — screaming it loudly from the mountaintop!!

If it’s just for the shelf, do what you want. If you want to strive for accuracy for personal reasons or wish to enter it into a competitive contest, do some research and try to match period photos. Either way, it’s up to you.
