Does anyone know of a site or video that provides instructions on making your own gunwale bumper for a Land-wasser-schlepper? I own one True Details resin set, but these are near impossible to find now, and I have three schleppers! Just curious if anyone knows of a way to make your own using some string. Thanks!
I’ve done that sort of thing in the past with tissue wrapped around pipe cleaners (large scale) or twist-tie wire (smaller scales), then soaked with dilute white glue and detailed with thread. The key is to work patiently to get a nice ‘twist’ on the tissue before soaking it with the glue solution.
(Also works for torpedo nets on Dreadnought-era ships, using stocking material instead of tissue.)
Wish I had photos to illustrate, but they crashed with an old hard drive. [:'(]
They are made by the owner’s wife and I picked them up at a show. They have quite a few different sets for different vehicles, including the Land-Wasser-Slepper.
Ah Team America… I don’t think that I’ve ever laughed at a movie so much before or since… [;)] Nothing was sacred or off limits.
At least you showed a tame clip RG [whstl]
Regarding the original post, I do believe that there was an article in FSM years ago about a guy making a jig to create 1/35 cargo nets for use with a DUKW. I’ll bet that a similar method could be used to create the bumpers for those who prefer to do it themselves…
Do NOT get the unrated version! I watched it and cannot unsee it (thanks a lot to my buddy Fritzy, may his soul rest in peace). It’s just too, too much. It’s like 911 times 1,000. That’s right, it will be 911,000.
Back OT, let’s see one of those crochet bumpers! And then we can go back to searching Youtube for a man swallowing his own head. And after that, cocktails.
