Over the years, I have seen many attempts to create a diorama of the legendary B-17 in all it’s forms, but I feel I have done one that will be of interest to some of you because the amount of ‘aftermarket’ materials that are available today makes it possible to go just that little bit further in making a diorama more “Active” or ‘busy’ if you like.

Nice. A question:

Why would the aircraft be scrapped on a hard point at an airfield? I guess anything is possible. i do like the figures.

The aircraft that were deemed “War weary” were all stripped of their guns, and some were re engined, like I have depicted in the diorama, and then they were flown across the Atlantic to be scrapped in the USA.

This was done to all aircraft that could still be flown and none were “scrapped” in England.

I also see Shep’s style in your work as to how you did your layout. Looks like you had a lot fo run.

Shep Paine has been my inspiration from when I was a young boy and I simply asked myself, “What would Mr Paine have done.?” and the result is what you see. :slight_smile:

Wow, amazingly cool! Does look like something Shep would build. I wish I had the guts to tackle something this involved.

Extra special cool!!! That is a killer diorama!! I kept the flyer that came in the Box with My B-17G with Shepard Paine’s Crashed B-17 diorama as motivation. I am goint to try my first one this winter…

it’s an impressive piece and looks good from many angles. You can lock it down and fix some of the figures that looks unfinished.
