OK I got my jeep , its the Italieri commando car and very nice it is too. The driver figure will be put aside tho as he looks to be in an American style uniform, but other than that it looks good, positively brisling with machine guns.[:D]
That’s great I have my Jeep too. Looks small but It’ll be fun.
Just in case some of you “cant’ do without PE” guys want to know what’s available, here’s a short list of the aftermarket items I have for the Jeep kits listed on page one. This is not a comprehensive list, just some items I have on hand.
Custom Dioramas CD2006 Willys Jeep PE
Eduard 35002 Willys Jeep PE for old Tamiya Jeep
KMC 35-1004 Willys Jeep update and resin engine set for Italeri/Revell Jeep
Verlinden 20 015 M151 Armor Plate
Verlinden 1538 M151A1/A2 Conversion set
Model Point 3580 turned aluminum barrel for Academy M151A1 w/recoilless rifle
CMK 3002 M151 resin engine
If you’re building any of Italeri’s Jeeps, the KMC set is really nice. I was lucky and found my set in a clearance grab box at the local hobby shop for $5.
Well Ive started my SAS and painted the jeep dark yellow, Ill follow up with a lighter yellow on top for that faded look before I start to weathering
[:(] two weeks to late this groupbuild ,just finished the tamiya willy’s [:p] post some pic. soon
Here’s the old Tamiya SAS Jeep I built last year. Nice kit that needs some TLC to bring it up to standards. It earned second place in softskins at this show.
The kit is okay, not the best out there, yours looks pretty good!
How Dare You,
Discriminate !!! You guys didn’t incliude any 1/72-1/76th or the Hasagawa 1/24th!
And then to make maters worse you include M151s that ARE NOT Jeeps. JEEP
was a registtered trademark of Willys, Kaiser, AMC (Iknow Ive missed one) and
now Daimler-Chrysler but never AM General- the maker of the 151. I am
simply outraged at this injustice. Wheres the ACLU when you need them?
OK I’ll do the Tamiya SAS JEEP.
Good Hunting,
G.W.
Got you down. Man this GB is going to be fun. Didn’t expect this many people so I’m happy.[:D]
Obviously someone who never served in the Armed Forces when the M151/A1/A2 were in use.
They were all called Jeeps.
Besides, like many WW2 Jeeps the M151 Jeep was made by Ford.
ygmodeler, you may want to edit the title line and add the build dates in … just my 2 cents
Rob,
I put more miles than I ever wanted in 151s, most people used to call Scouts, Broncos , Toyota landcruisers and even Landrovers jeeps in the old days(Before the Term SUV became politically correct) and in those days the 151 was mistakenly/
generically called a jeed BUT to the purist a Jeep is A Jeep. Some people don’t even
consider the present day wrangler a jeep and I’ve known oldtimers that claimed if it didn’t have a flat hood it wasn’t a Jeep!
Hail the JEEP, long may they run!!
Good Hunting,
G.W.
My first car was a pre WW2 MB with a build date of Nov.1941! !bought it in 1972 for
$500.00 , Wish I’d kept it!
Thanks will do.
Hmmm… I’d like to join but neither of my Jeep’s are on the list.
If you’re willing to add Bandai’s 1/48 scale US Willy’s Jeep or SOL’s 1/48 scale US Willy’s “Follow Me” Jeep to Rob’s list, I’m in!
I don’t know should I? Everyone? I guess I will.[:D]
Welcome to the GB.
Which one are you going to do?
i didn’t see the tamiya pink panther on there… just got one for 4 bucks at a flea market… would that count?
Woohoo! Thanks ygmodeler4.
I’ll do the Bandai Jeep. It’s plastic injection molded so I know what I’m getting into with that one. I actually haven’t started it yet. 5% Complete in my signature constitutes opening the box. SOL’s Jeep is resin. And it looks like it will require a lot of work and sanding, so I’ll leave that as a stretch goal for the group build.
Also, I’m an FNG when it comes to AFV’s so this will be my first. Plenty of experience with FWA. I’m tying to get the jeep to resemble a Jeep one might see on a Pacific airfield during WWII.
Does any one have pics of the undercarriage of a WWII Jeep? I might take this build at a later date and add more detail if I feel the ambition to. Will likely have to be scratch built since I doubt there are any AM products for quarter scale Jeeps.
Sure, would you like me to change your chice?
I can’t find some now but I’ll look a little bit later. I’m swamped with homework.Arrrggh[:0][B)][xx(][sigh]
yeah, go ahead and change it… thanx
