Been working on a F14 that’s got some fit problems. Tryed a couple of things to fill cracks. Seems the one that worked the easiest was a paste made from white glue and baking soda. Made a nice smooth paste that didn’t dry too fast, filled the gaps nicely and the cleanup around the edges of the gap was easy. Have a long way to go till painting but it seemed to work real well. Anybody else try this? I’m a little worried about how the paint will take. I thing it should be fine.

Spread some fof your paste on some scrap, let it dry and paint it. You will probably wnt to prime first.
hi , i find that stretched sprue of a contrasting colour is best after all it is tappered and is free , give it a try , but you must leave for 48 hours before sanding down , cheers ian
Ian - why the contrasting color? What difference does that make?

I should probably let Ian answer this but I would say that it is so that it is easier to see the seam when you’re sanding it down and can tell when it is smoothed out. It is the same principle when you are priming. You prime the model in a different color so that it’s easier to see what needs to be sanded.

hi as ray says it is to see just how far you have to sand down also it helps in seeing it you need a second insert to fill the gap. dont knock it till you have tried , cheers ian
