Courtyard surface - need advice

My current project involves 2 sturmtigers being worked on in a courtyard circa Europe 44/45. I am unsure as to the courtyard surface and was looking at the Kancali range of latex surfaces here http://www.kancali.com/militarymodelinghome.html
Could anyone advise if the brick or cobblestones (random or fan pattern) would be appropriate?

Brian;

As far as which is appropriate either could be used.

However, where is the “courtyard” to be located?

Is it the courtyard of a mansion house?
Is it a courtyard between some rowhouses?
Is it a courtyard in a town square?

The “location” would determine the nature of the courtyard and the pattern of cobblestones or brickwork to be used.

By this I mean if it were the mansion house, obviously the owner has money and would want a more elaboriate pattern of stonework such as the fan type to be used.

If it were a town square the same could be inferred as well.

However if it is a courtyard in the rowhouse area it may be just ordinary stonework with little or no pattern.

Do you see what I mean?

Take a look around where you live and look for the differences in architecture and its usage. You will note differences in areas and architecture styles used, even within a block of one another.

I hope this will assist you in making a decision and hopefully a unique diorama.

Cheers;

Gregory

That’s a pretty neat site. They also have some pictures of the street products being used with armor models at http://www.kancali.com/Productsinuse.html I agree with the other poster who said that you should determine the setting and pick something more or less formal based on that setting.

In any case, it looks like you’re off to a good start with the choice of any of these products.
