Corvette C5-R Reference Material

Hi Guys:

I’m an armour builder, not real experienced building a race car (I’ve done a few street versions for friends), and could use some help. I’m attempting to make the Goodwrench Black/Silver Corvette C5-R and need some help with the coloration of the interior, engine, and engine compartment. I have some color pictures of the exterior but can anyone set me on the right track? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well this is what i was able to come with. Not sure if it’ll help you out or not.

This could be the possible C6 engine, was’nt clear for sure though. You’d have to see if it looks similar to the one in your kit.

You could also try looking around on here http://www.killervette.com/photogallery/
they have a photo gallery of all sorts of C5r pics.

Hope that gives you a little help.

Chris:

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to reply! I really appreciate the picture and the link to the reference page. I just went up there to check it out and it looks like there are a ton of pictures to look at. The project looks a little intimidating since I need to do some cutting on the body to open up the hood. Maybe I should put it back in the box and start on a new armour piece.

Thanks

Charlie

If it is the race version you are looking for, have a look at the Pratt-Miller website. They are the team that run and build these beautiful beasts!

And you may also find more on the ALMS series site:

AS for the actual engine bay, try this:

Hope this helps!

No problem. I mainly do the armor thing to but still dable in the auto world occasionally. That is a pretty awesome loking engine on the racing one though.

Racer magazine publishes an “In Focus” photo article in most issues. This has photos of race cars with as many of the panels removed as possible. As soon as I locate the issue with the C5-R, I will post again with further details.

I found it. Issue #88 August 1999. The web site to get back issues is :http://www.racer.com/ I have requested information of availability.

Guys:

Thanks for all the great information - It should keep me out of trouble for awhile! Great detail shot of the engine - have to open up the hood now! I’m sorry it took so long to get back to this question but I was side tracked and forgot that I placed the inquiry. I’ve set it up so that I get an email on it now. I really appreciate all the responses!

Thanks
