Corsair uncaged

Very nice build, It has a good look to it.

I am about to build a 1/48 F4U-1D Tamiya Corsair in the Bunker Hill configuration.

In your opinion should it have a glossy or a dull luster to the Sea Blue (Main color)? I know in Museums the Corsairs have pretty reflective paint jobs but I am not sure what they looked like in active service.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

…and again great job on the Birdcage.

Sweet build Daniel[tup][tup][tup]Now if you fellas from NSW could play cricket as…[:-,]

Excellent work on your bird, I like the folded wing, just gives that little extra

Beautiful work Daniel. As others have said the weathering is really nice, and the pictures show of the great work of the build.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. I’ve been away a few days so this is the first chance I’ve gotten to thank you all. Now, to answer some questions:

nmayhew and navy1996- To get the demarcation lines using spray cans, I sprayed the white first. Then cut masks out of paper and stuck them to the model using blue tack to keep it off the surface slightly, to give it the slightly feathered edge.

wroper11- I think they are called birdcage corsairs because of the canopy. The later ones had one with alot less framing. These ones I suppose look a bit like birdcages.

frittz- If it’s a tri-colour scheme corsair, the blue should be flat. If i8t’s overall dark blue it would be gloss.

JS - that’s a cheap shot mate. Keep it above belt next time.

Beautiful Corsair!

Very authentic build. Great job.

VERY nice build!! [bow][bow][bow]

Thank’s for the reply mate. I was pretty sure it was that way. I just wanted to be 100% sure. Thanks again. I’ll post progressions of the model when I begin.
