I am currently modelling a Corsair of the RNZAF, however the finish is giving me a real headache. Most of the Corsairs used by the RNZAF seem to have been delivered in the USN three tone scheme, however there were variations in how this was applied. Add to that the fact that they rapidly became very badly weathered and faded, plus field repaints, and the fact that most black and white pics don’t really show any colour demarkations, and you can understand my problem, so here it is. Does anyone out there know where I can lay my hands on even ONE COLOUR pic of a New Zealand Corsair in service??? (Several would be really cool!!!)
Also, as a side issue, does anyone know where I can lay my hands on 1/48 RNZAF decals? I have a set from Sky Models but whilst I am not sure of the exact shade for the roundels, instead of a dull blue, these ones are almost turquoise!!! That definitely aint right!!
I have a photo I think in one of my books of a RNZAF Corsair, however it is one that is resotored or sitting abandoned on an airstrip, I am going to look for it right now. I think that Aeromaster or Eagle Strke might have some markings.

Chris, if you go to Vought’s Heritage site at http://www.vought.com/heritage/ there is an email link. It goes to the Vought Retiree’s Club and you can get answers from retired Vought employees, or in the case of the Corsair perhaps even the guys who built them. You might also be able to find some pix there that could help, but I think most of them are USN pix.

Thanks Scott that could be what he is looking for. The one image I thought I had for him turned up futile. I’ll look at that site later when I have the chance.
I forget who makes them, but the New Zealand Corsair set I have, has a light blue roundel. And off the top of my head, the black and white pictures I have, the roundels seem lighter than the fuselage. I’ll have to look when I get home.
