The wire is a bit thick, but this is my first attempt at stretched sprue. I’m a little disappointed with the cockpit masking, but it isn’t horrible. Previous posts from me have the progress pics - I am bummed that the cockpit is behind the bad masking, but such is life…
Appreciate comments and thanks to all for the encouragement and advice - in particular thanks to Swanny for the patient explanations when I needed them (both on his site and in posts).
For the antenna wire, instead of stretched sprue you might consider “Invisible Thread”. I got that idea here on the forum somewhere (thanks to whoever posted it!) and it works very well. You can find it at most stores that sell sewing supplies. I think it’s some sort of plastic thread, but it is very thin and works great for antenna wires.
Thanks again, Swanny. I just changed out the antenna and am much happier with the look. Marrying a lady who sews pays off again.
Thanks for all the compliments - It has been an interesting, painful build, but I think I have redeemed myself for that horrible job I did on the big Revell Corsair when I was 8.
Mike,
Remember, you are your own harshest critic - I happen to think your Corsair looks pretty darned good!
As with all of us, your next model will be a little better than your last.
As far as masking, for canopies, use Bare Metal Foil - it’s fool proof and works perfectly.
Cheers!!
