well, we have a fire here in east San Diego county. Jumped to 1500 acres in 3 hours. Saw a post that referenced this super cool sight. I was watching the fire bombers work the fire. Thought I would share.

Tracked our FTV’s with this app while waiting for them to return to base, we also had radio from telemetry… Was lots of fun to hear the crew go through the tests and figure out if I had time to give my crew a lunch or bio break. Gonna check it out.[Y].
A fire in east San Diego County . . . thats unheard of !!! Say it ain’t so.
I used to work a Barona Casino, Now called Barona Valley Ranch & Casino. I remember the fire that damn near wasted all of Wild Cat Canyon, From Ramona, all the way down to Lakeside.
People forget that that area is desert, no matter how many trees they plant, and fire is part of the natural cycle . . . Except when the Illegals let their campfires get out of hand.
But that’s another story.
Ya I live in Ramona now, 10 minutes from Barona. I know the casino - weird that they don’t serve drinks on the floor - most likely due to the dangerous roads. I’ve been through the ugly fires - evacuated out of scripps ranch due to the Witch fire and the Cedar fire. We have way more assets now. Two S2-T trackers 4 miles away at Ramona fire attack base. But then again - a nasty Santa Ana and a spark and we’re toast. Living the SoCal life… And ya, the a$$ wipes that start these things… Apparanetly some a$$hat was out running a tractor in a red-flag condition and caused this fire. Out here it was 117, 30% humidity and 20 MPH winds. Take the day off.
Forgot all about this app. A couple of years ago i was showing the Mrs the aircraft that her kids were on when they went on holiday. When they were coming home, she text her daughter telling her the plane they were oin was takeing off.
The skies over Europe are deffinetly less busy than they used to be.
It wasn’t long ago that I had the task of helping aircraft operators meet the deadline for making their aircraft show up in the system that feeds apps like this. Now I have the task of making it so a select few won’t show up in the system that feeds apps like this (with the authorization of the FAA of course).
I wish I knew about this app a few weekends ago. Heard something flying over the house one night when we were out on the porch and it definitely wasn’t civilian. I could see the lights and it was too low and the flight path was a Northeast direction. All of the civilian planes that we see are on a South/North path going to Bradley, or a West/East path going to Boston I’m assuming. They are also at a much higher altitude. I heard it again much earlier the next day on the same flight path, but this time it had been raining with low cloud cover. So I still couldn’t see it. I did hear the pilot throttle up in the same area both days which was cool.
