Does anyone know if there are any models of construction equipment available out there. Specifically WW2 era or early 50’s style equipment. I’ve seen the Japanese WW2 era buldozer. Are there any models of rollers or road graders available? I spent 10 years serving as an Engineering Aide in the SEAEES and have always wanted to do some sort of diorama of a WW2 runway repair or something similar. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Wespe out of Europe makes some 1:72 [& 1:48 ?] scale resin equipment: dozer, grader, etc. They are sort of fiddley.
In model railroad scales, Woodland Scenics makes (or made) white metal dozers, graders, trucks & tractors. They seem to be more appropriate for the 20’s - 30’s. Are they even still in business - they had a fire a few years back?)

Yes, Lindberg did a series of construction kits. I have the front bucket loader and on the side it advertises a 333 ft road scraper (kit #1202) and a dump truck (#1203). The bucket loader is #1201. They are molded in bright yellow and about 1/48 to 1/35 scale. These are old, vintage kits and the one I have looks to be 1960s era. The line was “mighty movers”.
Found an auction listing of an ad for the kit line. It lists the loader as 1/40th, the dump truck as 1/44th and the scraper as 1/60th.

About 5 years ago I was pursuing a project (didn’t involve what you are looking for) and found that architectural supply businesses carry all kinds of construction related products that could be used in dioramas.
These were very pricey as I’m sure their major customers are professional firms that build concept models for big construction projects.
there two things I really wish there were model kits for. I really wish there were heavy construction equipment models like Catelpillar or things like that. I really wish there were roller coaster or amusement park ride models. How cool would it be to be able to model a full amusement park.
I know I am preaching to wrong crowd, but seriously enough with P52 mustangs, and A-10 warthogs, how about some diversity from the model companies.
Wow, Rob! What you’ve posted must be really old - the suggested price for each kit is $3.00!! I haven’t seen a NEW kit priced that low in many, many years.
Look at the Walther’s model railroad catalogs or website for amusement park rides - most will be in HO (1:87th) scale. Be ready for sticker shock. Short list is: 2 roller coasters; 2 swing boat; 1 bumper car; and crazy clown ride.
Maybe it’s time we band together and either contribute time, money and resources to an exiting manufacturer, or create our own concept and get a manufacturer to build it for us.
I just posted (May 22, 2014) a similar comment because this string didn’t appear in my forum search results. I’m actually inquiring about the end-to-end process so I can achieve this goal.
I know it would not be easy, but it also cannot be terribly difficult to get sufficient investors to initiate a process. 100 modelers investing $100 each might entice a manufacturer to help us for $10,000.00 start-up investment. We would each get a model off the line, and the rest would be distributed worldwide and we would all share in the profits; however that could be negotiated.
Just think of the aftermarket revenue that could be generated just from farm equipment with all the implement attachments, and new diorama ideas.
Interesting idea, you’d think the model makers would be looking for new ideas. You can only build the same airplane or tank so many times.
