? concerning what kit to buy.

I need advice on what kit to buy for my freind’s birthday. He’s not that expierienced and I can’t spend alot of money. He likes virtually everything so if you have any suggestions on what to get him then please help.

how about the tamiya challenger 1? Tamiya so good fit. Old so not pricey. And challenger so cool.

get him the Dragon M4A2 russian sherman, loads in the box PE, metal barrel, one peice tracks

Maybe one of tamiyas older kits, M3 stuart PZ II ausf F/G-- those are only aobut $12.
Tamiya tiger 1 late is also a very nice kit with easy assembly but it is about $35 bucks.

If you want something in the $20 range try Italeri demag kits, they are fun to build.

The Tamiya M-48 is a nice, well fitting simple it and it is about $20 online

Hmmm…what to do. Since we don’t know your budget, it’s kind of tough. Any of the older Tamiya kits such as the already mentioned Pz II and Stuart would work. How about an A.T.? Dragon’s Pak 40 is a nice kit and comes in at about $20. Tamiya’s is cheaper still, under $10. If you can find Dragon’s Panther G Late, it also is under $20. It does come with indy tracks which may not work out for your friend.

Thinking back to when I was a new modeler, I would have liked to get a couple of 1/72 Hasegawa armor kits. They will cost you about $15 for both and give him tons of bits to mess with. They are small and easily brush painted.

I agree on the old tamiya armor kits (t-34/85, panther for example). Good fit and cheap.
I would not recommend any kit with individual track links, photo-etched parts or resin.
If he likes planes or helos an Italeri kit would be ok. They aren’t expensive, don’t have too may parts but lack cockpit detail. Anyway, I don’t think your friend will complaint about that.
I haven’t built any italeri armor kit so I couldn’t say.

Thankyou all for your advice. I’m going to go to the LHS with a list of what you guys suggested and wich ever one is cheapest9 or looks the coolest0 I’ll get.

A nice, cheap beginner tank build is any of the old Tamiya T-34 tanks. Rubber-band tracks, relatively few pieces, good fit. You can’t go wrong.
