I have a Makita 2 horse compressor that I bought some years ago to be used with pneumatic nail guns. It’s an oiless type with double tanks, one mounted over the other. Can I adapt this to be used with an Iwata Eclipse and save myself a few hundred bucks.

Absolutely Ron … I assume that you have a regulator on it already as most light industrial compressors come with them. But if not, pick one up. The other thing that I recommend is a moisture trap, they are fairly cheap and available at most large hardware stores. Final thing you’ll need is a brass reducer for the line to go from the standard size down to the size of your Iwata’s hose. Also available at the hardware store.
A couple of bucks and you’re off and spraying.
ron - I would make the suggestion that you increase your storage capacity - I have a small oilless aircompressor with a 20 gal tank and it seemed to kick in after I made two or three passes with my paint brush and didn’t stop for a good 5 minutes after I had completed - it also kicked in at odd times when it wasn’t being used (that got really annoying when you weren’t expecting it - especially with it under my desk) - I scrounged some extra tankage (a couple of the yellow 20 gallon aircraft oxygen tanks and a 50 gal truck brake resevoir tank) - when we moved into our new house I mounted them in the far side of the basement (keep the sound as far away as possible) and ran PVC pipe from the compressor and tanks to my hobby room, my basement workshop area and up to the garage - I used 1" PVC pipe - I picked up an air-oil seperator with a regulator attached at the Harbor Freight store in Topeka for about 15 bucks and installed it next to the paint booth - took me about a week to work the bugs (air leaks) out of the system (I love it but still want a two stage, 190 CFM, 20 HP, 230 V three phase compressor on top of a 120 gallon vertical tank but will probably have to wait until pigs fly to get it)

I only have a 5 gallon tank on my 1/2 hp compressor and the sound never bothers me. Oh wait a minute, it could be because it’s a Jun-Air. [:D][:o)]
