Completed Sovermeny Class Destroyer 1:350 scale

Here is my completed Trumpeter 1:350 Sovermney Destroyer. It features aftermarket railings and ladders. I tried to weather the hull with a black + Burnt Serria+Cobalt Blue dot wash to give it that service look. I also used some rust around the anchors to show signs of age.

The upper decks were weathered with a pin wash of black +burnt serria. I attached some .10 guage wire as attennas and scratch built the rings and arieal wires that run from the helicopter pad to the main mast as well as the one from the attenna tower down to the helicopter pad.

This is the first ship as I normally do armour and planes. I will try another…but not right now…

It’s your first ship and you did THAT!!!

It makes me bow my head in shame when I compare it to the Iron Duke I’m working on.

I gotta ask, what’s that reddish color you used for the decks?

Nice job!

Bill

Thanks TD…

My first ship…but I have been modelling for years…only armour and planes…I guess I have honed my skills a bit…

I am not sure what the reddish areas meant on Soviet ships…probably areas on the upper decks that can be walked on.

Thanks Bill…

[Y] on your ship effort, especially with all the PE, and you threw in some scratchbuilding to boot! But as a 1/700 ship modeler, yeah, I know, they can get daunting.

The red color is what Russian ship’s decks are currently painted with, as opposed to the US Navy deck gray we’re more familiar with. Why? Who knows! maybe they just think it looks prettier.
